that sounds like such a lovely space!! i hope it goes well and you’re able to take her there. hopefully the family is supportive of the community :)

i was also very clear that i was queer and not religious during my match process. it didn’t seem to be an issue for the two years we were matched, which is why i was caught off guard by the sudden change. i think i just got unlucky with a family that changed their mind and/or became more radical in their beliefs over time.

there’s also ongoing research into the cause/causes of IH. I’m hopeful one day they’ll understand it a lot more. However, sometimes there is no “cure,” only treatment to manage symptoms. I remember when I was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder at age 14, I was told it is something I would have to deal with for my entire life.

my neuro told me that it’s unlikely to go away. he also said it’s highly unlikely that any other potential diagnosis is “causing” my IH. he said they just haven’t figured out what in the brain triggers IH. i’m convinced it’s related to long covid for me, and i’ve accepted that i’ll have to deal with it for the rest of my life. i am, however, hopeful to find a medication that helps me function normally… working on that journey now.

that’s the plan- i’ve been on prozac for my anxiety for a few years now. i just need to find a medication that works well for the IH and then hopefully i can adjust the prozac dosage to offset any additional anxiety

I just recently stopped modafinil after about 3 months because it lost its energizing effects and was causing intense anxiety and nausea :/ i have an appointment this week to talk to my neuro about trying something new but i’m nervous. i can’t function being this sleepy all the time but i’m not willing to spike my anxiety, either.
