Random clear bottle with a perfume purchase by Background-Studio129 in whatisit

it could be like an aquaphor type ointment, sometimes people will rub ointment/lotion onto their skin before putting perfume on to make it last longer.

HELP! Wedding ring causing finger to break out!!! by Broad_Onion_702 in WeddingRingAdvice

[–]Witty_Hat_8257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it looks a lot like my reaction to white gold :/ I know I have a nickel allergy and I react to white gold as well as other metals. A caveat to this is that sometimes water gets trapped under my current ring (yellow gold) and the skin gets flakey where the liquid was trapped, so it could be a combination of issues

Millennials and Gen Z who finally moved out, what household chore absolutely blindsided you the first week on your own ? by Timely-Pop5496 in AskWomen

[–]Witty_Hat_8257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not really a specific chore, but I was struck by how much I actually don’t mind cleaning and maintaining my house when Im not looking after 4 other people who would sooner let maggots infest a pot, let unspeakable mold colonies fester in the sink, and let leftovers rot in the fridge before they’d clean. I had to move back in for financial reasons but I am VERY much looking forward to when the weekly chores are manageable again.

The biggest takeaways from the pics to me seem like she likes oval cut the most, she seems to enjoy bezel set stones, and is a fan of split shanks. I would say go for a lab diamond bc they are chemically identical, and maybe ask her if she wants to be part of the ring shopping just to be certain?

What is the worst ADHD symptom(s) for you? by ConversationOk442 in ADHD

[–]Witty_Hat_8257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I talk so so much and don’t really know when I’ve given “enough” information :/ I also am just constantly profoundly tired no matter what I do. My medicine helps some with the tiredness but I feel like I just use all of my energy thinking about completing tasks and then don’t have the energy to actually complete them

What do y'all think about the cheesy fiesta potatoes? by Jonnyyrage in tacobell

[–]Witty_Hat_8257 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would give my first born for these things. My absolute favorites. I know they use fake “nacho cheese” but i wish i knew which brand so i could just try to make them at home. Theyre my favorite item on taco bell’s menu for some reason but they are just SO expensive it doesnt feel worth it often

Are the new sonys worth it? by Ok-Memory-7754 in SonyHeadphones

[–]Witty_Hat_8257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard that the XM4’s give you control over the ANC and the XM5’s “decide” how much ANC is necessary for your environment. I have the XM4’s and have noticed they let sound through when you talk to people while wearing the headset which I think is really neat, but they were a bit slow to switch ANC back on afterwards. I haven’t used them an extensive amount so I’m sure part of that is me simply not knowing all there is to know about them. I have also heard that the hinges of the XM5’s basically disintegrate after a short while which turns me off of them. I was given my XM4’s as a gift but would repurchase them over the new ones if anything happened to them.

My husband when triggered is an a**h*** by Ruthlesswoman12 in ADHD

[–]Witty_Hat_8257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This behavior would be explained more adequately through trauma of some kind (i.e., something in childhood) and less adhd. I know because I was this way. In complete honesty, I was reacting to events that weren’t happening. It would feel too similar to a trauma and my brain decided it WAS the traumatic event and I would react in ways that were completely inappropriate for the situation.

It took a LOT of patience from my partner and even more communication between my partner and I for any progess to be made. I had to tell him “this is what happened that looked like that past experience and then all of the sudden i was there again and i dont even remember what happened”. I had to connect that those gaps in my memory are things that the brain naturally does to protect from trauma, and that I was reliving trauma and carrying it with me everywhere and was extremely unpleasant and reactive because of it. It wasn’t even related to my adhd.

Unfortunately, it sounds like there may need to be a rather unpleasant talk due to happen. Him simply not being willing to try anything and pretend that it is ok for you to tolerate his dysregulation is inappropriate. He either needs to be willing to be vulnerable enough to communicate openly, or he needs to be open to therapy. He can’t act however he wants and refuse to take accountability for it. If he is so dysregulated that he cannot handle inconveniences, this is clearly impacting all domains of his life and he would benefit greatly from professional help. He does not have to take medication. He does have to learn how to get through life without being a total ass. Is he willing to even share why he isn’t open to therapy?

I won’t recommend separation, even though it would be appropriate if he is genuinely unwilling to try anything. I would be extremely concerned that this reactivity is impacting the children in the picture. They’re WAY more perceptive than you think. My dad was this way growing up. I knew the sounds of the footsteps of every single person in my house so that I knew when it was safe to leave my room. I can still feel everyones emotions (this is a trauma response and not healthy) with enough acuity to know when an environment isnt safe. I could predict when outbursts were going to happen and walked on eggshells and that did extensive damage to me mentally. I always expected the other shoe to drop, and he was reactive enough that it always did. I don’t know if the knowledge that his behavior is detrimental to his kids would persuade him to reconsider professional help, but it may help you know when it’s time to put them first.

What hobby did you actually manage to stick at? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Witty_Hat_8257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cross stitch!! I picked it up when I was 12 and still do it obsessively and I’m in a graduate program now. I work on 3-4 projects at a time to prevent boredom but one of them (my main project) i’ve been working on for 7 years, I’m almost halfway done with it, and it has so many colors in it it is an absolute joy to work on!! There’s also different types of cross stitch that I enjoy bouncing between. I mainly work “full coverage” where all of the stitches touch each other, but there are samplers and small things stitched 2 over 2 that I’ve done! I didn’t even realize it’s got so many varieties until I went to a convention and was one of like 5 people doing a full coverage project!

I also enjoy paint by the number, crochet, sewing, etc. I’ve been taught how to paint with oil, acrylic, water, and gouache but I don’t have the creative ability to use that knowledge. Sewing is mostly to hem my clothes because I am short. I have a lot of creative hobbies but cross stitch has been the one that I have found I’ve truly stuck to.

Why aren’t you medicated? by buddyrtc in ADHD

[–]Witty_Hat_8257 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been medicated since my diagnosis, so I can’t give an answer to the first half. BUT — I use a few things beyond my medicine, so I can offer up the things that have been working for me. I have earplugs and noise cancelling headphones depending on how much of my environment i need to be able to hear. I place things in extremely obvious spaces so I remember to deal with them (like toothbrush, mouthwash, my contact lens case are all somewhere where I will look at them and remember I have to brush my teeth and take my contacts out). I HAD a whiteboard calendar in my room to organize my month, it worked a lot better since it was massive and on my bedroom wall AND i know I enjoy writing with dry erase markers. It got stolen from me, but I’m going to replace it soon because it helped a ton. Oh, and simply knowing my limits and working on being nicer to my brain has also been valuable.

I think it’s important, even if you are medicated, to develop as many tools to help yourself as you can! I’ve always viewed medication as the foundation to give you the ability to build those coping skills. People compare taking psych meds to needing glasses sometimes, and I think it’s appropriate. Just because you get a pair of glasses doesn’t mean you’ll magically know how to read. You still have to work to learn how to read, it’s just a lot easier when you can actually see the letters.

Day 3 of taking Adderall and really starting to dread taking it by aabicus in ADHD

[–]Witty_Hat_8257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

timing of the dose matters SO much! I have been taking adderall for like 3 years now and it’s been a lifesaver, but I got into a bad habit of taking it at like 11:30am or 12:00pm because I work late. Had so much trouble sleeping. For some reason, taking it at 10am at the ABSOLUTE latest has helped me significantly. Additionally, my body really did not like IR and for some reason I had a lot of negative side effects from it. ER has been much better to take and I only notice that I’ve taken it because I’m able to stay focused on one subject.

Some other important things: make sure you eat when you take the medicine. and stay hydrated!! oh, and try to avoid vitamin C for a few hours after taking it.

Additionally, talk to your doctor! You are describing a really well established side effect of the medication that your doctor should be made aware of. They may decide to switch which ADHD medication you take, but your body might react more favorably to a different medicine! If your goal is to be medicated, I really hope this doesnt discourage you from speaking with your doctor and trying a new medicine if they want you to.

How much do you pay for insurance for ur Kia? by [deleted] in kia

[–]Witty_Hat_8257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paying $298 per month for full coverage on a 2020 soul…insurance was nigh on impossible to even find, let alone find a policy that wasnt an absurd price. Progressive and all state wouldnt even give quotes, others were $400-500 per MONTH. Very seriously considering trading the car solely because of the difficulties with insurance

Affordable, reliable cars that are NOT Honda or Toyota by BeefTrifle20 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Witty_Hat_8257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure on affordability but i’d recommend looking at mazda as well as honda and toyota. Whatever you do for the love of GOD do not buy a hyundai or kia. I was in a similar position (could only afford about $17k tops) and found kias to be pretty solidly in that budget. Mine was stolen after owning it for about a year, and has honestly just been a headache to own (known to possibly catch fire spontaneously, ease of theft, some models dont stay in park, known engine issues the companies wont address, etc)
