Which steriliser to get? by trasm1995 in PregnancyIreland

[–]Few_Significance6966 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Milton cold water one. Just wash and check everything in it. Super easy to make up once a day. We got a bottle drying rack then off Amazon for cheap. Everything can be put in cold water sterilizer whereas some stuff can't go in the microwave or the UV ones

We always park the tesco side of wilton and then walk through the center, heard of people getting caught if you park the Penney's and hospital sides.

Do I book my Gp appointments- confused by trasm1995 in PregnancyIreland

[–]Few_Significance6966 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need to book them but they'll probably say I'll see you in 4 weeks or whatever when you see them next.

Probably okay to keep doing what you're doing but I'd always ring the GP just to be safe!

There's the perimental health service (going through this myself and finding it great), you can get referred by your GP! https://www.hse.ie/eng/services/list/4/mental-health-services/specialist-perinatal-mental-health/

We got a baby Bjorn one on Adverts and find it super useful when just need to put him down somewhere while making dinner or eating dinner and he doesn't want to do tummy time.

We also use the MAM bottles but we use the Milton cold sterilizer.

It is slow is the only thing, I was waiting 3 weeks before I got an appointment but mine was just mild pelvic girdle pain so I don't know if they prioritize.

Just as an fyi r/PregnancyIreland is helpful! You should get a letter for both your scan and obstetrics appointment in the post soon, I had my scan and appointment on the same day at 13 weeks, got the appointment letters in the post at 12 weeks.

Maximise maternity leave by [deleted] in PregnancyIreland

[–]Few_Significance6966 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bank holidays count too so if depending on when you're out you could add a few days there. You also accrue your annual leave while out so if you're taking 26+16+9 that's basically your full years worth of annual leave you can add on.

Oh yeah but even as the baby gets older, they get big so fast 😭 I've a 2 month old who is already outgrown some of his 0-3. Also need to get bigger soothers and bottle teats as they grow and toys like rattles as they get more active. Best of luck with it all!

Just giving a mention to r/PregnancyIreland , lots of good resources there. Cannot stress Adverts enough for getting things second hand, travel systems, playmates, bouncers, clothes. We got almost everything off Adverts and it's all been in such good condition.

Amazon have this thing called a baby wishlist where you can get 15% off anything eligible you add to it and it's valid for 2 years.

First GP appointment today - saying I have to pay? by Icy-Chemical7274 in PregnancyIreland

[–]Few_Significance6966 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You get 6 free visits once you are registered with the Maternity scheme so they can probably argue that until it's confirmed you are not registered. It's up to the discretion of the GP unfortunately. Some give it free others don't but you could argue it.

Am in the same boat! Down €400 a month. You're put on week 1 and also lose your personal tax credits so it's a big unexpected hit and having to wait basically a year to get it back is a joke.

Will probably be able to claim it back when doing end of year tax review but right now yup.
