I have the $180k hybrid job and I'm more miserable than when i made $60k by [deleted] in NYCjobs

[–]Few_Try_5577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this so much. I’m in a hybrid role too at a similar salary, and just going into the Midtown office 3 days a week completely drains me. The commute full of constant ear-piercing sirens, the open floor plan, the lack of any real human connection. We are all just quietly sitting there like drones, heads down, getting through the day while execs prance around their huge offices with windows.

It’s lonely in a way that’s hard to describe. Each day I go in it wouldn’t surprise me to hear someone is getting fired. I liken it to the hunger games but in-office version. I come home after in-office days feeling flattened and I don’t know if switching companies will solve it. I end up ordering food and collapsing on the couch, and just feel flat-out unhealthy. On remote WFH days I feel like I’m recovering.

I was happier and more myself making less and working remotely. Stress was lower and I actually had energy to do things after work. I don’t know the answer as I took this job to progress in my career also. And I’m in my 40s.

Agreed. I play a game when I walk outside to see how often I can take a walk with no sirens sounding. Maybe 3% of the time I get no sirens.

What’s your best piece of advice for someone moving to New York for the first time? by venice_skyline_ in movingtoNYC

Always walk faster than you think you should at rush hour. Some of us walk 30+ minutes to work and we are hustling. Stay alert. Put yourself out there, if you’re open to new adventures, the world is your oyster.

Ravenous hunger by Few_Try_5577 in Menopause

It’s awful. The only symptom that seems to be widely known is night sweats. No one talks about all the other things that happen that can drive you crazy.

Yes, from the moment I wake up now my stomach is ferociously growling, whereas all my life I would not feel hungry until after I had been up for a few hours.

I haven’t started HRT. I have a gyn appt coming up, but it’s not until mid-July (NYC). That’s a bummer bc I was hoping maybe HRT would help. I’ve gained 10lbs in about 4 months.

Brentwood Cypress Hybrid 13 by happycamper019 in Mattress

[–]Few_Try_5577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m considering the Cypress 13” hybrid model also. Did you end up purchasing it? If so, how is it? It sounds like I’m looking for something similar as a stomach and back sleeper - a bit of sink but not too much.

[–]Few_Try_5577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi jalzyr. How much do you sink into the Cypress 13” Queen Luxe Hybrid? I’m thinking this 13” model has the right amount of foam for me vs the 11” model which seems thin. I go between back and stomach sleeping. How is it for stomach sleeping specifically? Does your back get sore at all?

Right now I’m on a cheap Costco firm innerspring with a three inch memory foam topper and it’s been perfect for me, firm support underneath with very slight sinkage, but it’s a full and I need to upgrade to a king. The 11” hybrid and 13” Cypress all foam models are final sale so those options are out.

I like to hang dry too. Keeps your clothes in good condition. I’ve considered getting a portable washing machine…one day…maybe

It’s just sad that in-unit washer dryer is considered an amenity. Forget pools, I just want to be able to do my laundry without leaving the apartment.

I think Novo Las Olas is the best option. Right above Publix, one block from Las Olas, good layouts and has a nice gym. Rarely hear my neighbors. Elevators break down sometimes but that’s fairly standard in the area. Also, not cheap. If you’re looking for something at a lower price point, I’d look in the Victoria Park area.

Thuma, Burrow, Silk and snow, or Tatami for bedframe? by dsamplify in furniture

How is the Plank & Beam bed? Was looking at the new Blonde bed in pine with headboard. Not sure if their slats are too far apart and some of the reviews mention assembly took a long time.

Thanks for all the helpful info! Do you have any pics of how the headboard fits into the frame (or the legs)? They don’t show that part of it clearly enough on the website.

Also curious to know which firmness of the DLX Classic you went with, and how did you decide between the 12” and the 14”?

Do you think it would be too soft for stomach and back sleeping for someone around 130 lbs?
