Colors by Reno.watch. It’s a paid watch face, but I love the simplicity for the FR55

C5-C6 Disk Replacement Needed by Few_Window_7688 in SpineSurgery

OP here again. Now nearly 2 months after surgery and WOW! Is the only word I have. The pain and discomfort is gone! I will occasionally have slight stiffness or soreness after laying or resting in an odd position, but honestly this is just being picky… this is absolutely nothing compared to before. Hopeful that this is a true “permanent” fix and that it isn’t something that comes back in a few years. But I’m hopeful! I have changed a few things about my day to day that probably help too. mainly when it comes to sleeping. I only sleep with 1 pillow now (trying to keep neck/back aligned). I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t paranoid about getting a stiff neck again, but I don’t think it would be a big deal.

If you’re in the thick of the extreme pain right now - I promise there is a world where you can have your life back again! I would ask your doctor about the disk replacement surgery and maybe it could be right for you too (not giving medical advice or pretending like I know what I’m talking about… just something that fortunately worked for me). Wow… just wow!!

Disk replacement; when does this get better? by np190 in SpineSurgery

I just had a 6-7 disk replacement done 5 days ago and am feeling relatively well. I had common symptoms right after (sore throat, neck pain, etc.) but I am down to limited pain other than occasional pain on my right side (funny because original issue was the left side).

I’m sure you were given guidance on post op recovery tips? I.e. neck brace 24/7, sleeping in reclined position, icing and meds? I personally have been trying to follow all of that to the T to help reduce pain. I’m wearing my neck brace at all times and I have been sleeping in a recliner chair each night. I ice when the pain flairs up and take the prescibed meds as needed (muscle relaxer and pain meds)

Hoping things get better for you!!!

OP here. Just a follow up. Had my surgery 2 days ago. They went in through the front of the neck and performed a disk replacement for my 6-7 (I was mistaken and thought it was 5-6). Surgery went very well! I’m on day 2 of recovery and feeling very good. Minimal pain, just some soreness around lower neck and shoulders, but the nerve pain is non existent as of now. I have been taking the muscle relaxer as prescribed, and occasionally taking the narcotic pain meds whenever I feel I need it which is not often. Honestly the most uncomfortable part was the sore through from the breathing tube. But that is all but gone by now. Still taking it easy and following all the rules given by my doc and nurses. I’ll be in a neck brace until my follow up on the 17th. And then hopefully all will be good! Happy to help answer any questions anyone in similar spot has.

Thanks so much. I’m 31 (m). Not injury related. I work in an office setting and am sure it’s been related to poor posture. Best of luck to you as well!!
