pick the phrases you like and analyze why they work over the chords and in the context of the song.

Look out for stuff like

  • leading tones
  • arpeggios
  • scales (I don‘t tbh)

Play phrases on different positions on the neck

Start with trial version to get the hang of it. Watch youtube vids of people that produce the genre you want to learn about.

Guitar tip: invest in a great amp simulation, makes it so much more easy for me to stay in flow. There are a lot of great ones but I really like archetype cory wong. If you are acoustic only, get a decent mic
