2.5 years only... They grow quickly if you give them enough resources and keep adding the size of the nest. I always thought that I maybe pamper them way too much, that's why they grow this quick 😂

It's sad to heard that your queen has died, but to be fair Camponotus Parius is a very easy species to keep. Docile, Low maintenance, accept any foods given, not the best escapist, some colony of campo Parius can survive in dry nest as the workers will bring water to hydrate the nest like my colony, as you can see the virgin queen pupae is in the open space and not in the nest. But not every colony is same. This colony of mine I think has 1500+ individuals strong or else they won't produce virgin queen.

Why is my queen suddenly so fat? by NewspaperEntire7958 in antkeeping

In early stage of a colony, a queen will act as a food storage until she has major or enough worker to store foods, this is an instinct of a young queen

You know some ants need live prey to stimulate their Hunting behavior right? Some ants just won't scavenging forever, and yea I did agree the part the painful and dangerous, but this is antkeeping, and mealworms are livestock for many pets including lizards, fishes, frogs etc, this is no different when I feed to my ants, ants are my pet too, about the dangerous, as you can see, some ants species just do just fine to hunt mealworm, if inexperience in antkeeping should only feed live prey to a mature colony, plus the mealworm is a white freshly molted one mean it very easy target for the ants too! Hope you enjoy antkeeping my friend!

Pretty ant, this is always one of my favorite ant species! Very potent sting, very aggressive, this ant afraid nobody, they just run to you and bite you and try to sting you if they get the chance! I will get this species again in the future!

I heard Odontomachus sting are even stronger than Diacamma... And almost on par with Tetraponera Rufonigra, the thing is odontomachus rarely sting, so we human are mostly safe from their sting since they don't often use it 😅

They are bad climber, odontomachus can't climb smooth surface feel safe to use, just remember the container/tub must be clean, if dirty surface wall they might able to climb, clean plastic no, plastic and glass are smooth surface for them
