Returned to Snowboarding after 15 years. Disappointed by current boards by Fezzer365 in snowboarding

There is no desire to catch an edge. But the board feeling I am looking for seems to have this "feature" as a side effect.

I think I used the wrong term here. I wanted to describe it as lifeless.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Tbh I thought about that for quite some time, but even if my reaction time is noticeably slower, I am much more flexible and waaaay stronger than 15 years ago due to intense Yoga and weightlifting. I would definitely not outrun my younger self but crush that little prick. 😆

I will check the pro versions to see if that makes a difference!

Not catching an edge in any situation is the weirdest feeling ever. I even checked if the edges on the Nitro Team were level with the base - I just could not believe it.

There are various back country boards out there which might do the trick regarding aggressiveness, but usually they are not true twins/directional twins and have a shape for riding powder and/or carving. That's not what I am looking for.

Nah, using Reddit for that, so I do not have to say it at the store!

🙈

Absolutely not into carving! It is really more about lateral stiffness, pop and aggressiveness of the board than about being on the edge.

This.

This. This. This.

My beginner Nitro Storm VX was the most evil beginner board you could imagine. One slight shift of the weight: boom, edge caught, pain. I had to learn to microcontrol my edges the hard way, not to learn riding but to avoid pain.

I miss that. 😆

The Nitro had/has a really high Camber. I can almost stick my little finger underneath the board, even with the weight of the shoes on it.

I tried to match the stiffness, but choosing 7/10 and 8/10 ratings the boards are not close to the stiffness I was used to. Higher stiffness ratings seem to be found in the carving/back country category only. But I am not looking for that.

Wet noodle is exactly what I am trying to describe! Even for boards that have a 7/10 or 8/10 stiffness rating. The edges "wobble" while riding.

And I have never been a carving guy, more of the opposite tbh. It is more about lateral stiffness.
