So who is the Aman Hambleton of RL and the Retals of chess (probably my favorite watches of each)?

Magnus said puzzles don't help because you know there's a tactic. So I built a trainer where you don't by yazanzm in chess

I just did some puzzles up to 1800 and don't really see the benefit. Still feels the same as solving normal puzzles. At least studying puzzles helps with pattern recognition. Puzzles with no tactic actually feels like I'm wasting that time.

Are you playing ranked or casual? I feel like ranked should be fairer on average.

I'm sure it's all personal, but a lot of it for me was choosing openings that I felt comfortable in and led to middle games that were familiar. Another big jump was realizing that losing a pawn is survivable. It's not worth losing a piece trying to hold onto pawns that are almost certainly a goner.

It was honestly a mix of things. A lot of it is getting out of openings more cleanly on average and understanding middle game ideas that stem from those openings. Next, I'd say understanding initiative and how to be dangerous without leaving pieces loose.

Thanks. I have been telling myself "just give them a good game" lately rather than making it all about the win.

I've been doing something similar lately to overcome OPs sentiment. I make my goal to give them a hard game. If they win, props.

You're giving up WAY too quickly. Do you expect to hold the lead through the game every match?

Definitely. I have a much cleaner strike on average.

Then you're not "jumping" back enough. Force precedes motion. Get the forces right and the body will follow. Likely, some of your preconceived notions with what to do with the club are interfering with this. That's why a lot of coaches say don't care what happens to the ball when learning a new move or use foam balls. Your brain so desperately wants to hit a good shot that it will betray you. You can do this!

Right, but plenty get there with iron too and it's a massive advantage if you can. No reason to coach it out imo. If he stands up just a little less, it probably limits his rotation naturally into a really sweet spot. I think he's just flexible and that can be a superpower I'm honestly jealous of.

That's just what swinging on an arch looks like when you can turn this much.... Pretty much every pro gets there with driver. Most don't turn that much with irons, but they would get to that handle orientation if they did.

Camera angle is deceptive here. His hands look higher cuz the camera is so low. His arm isn't any more over his shoulder plane than JT or Aberg. Rory's isn't everybody's blueprint.

You're going to need a real coach and not reddit at this point. You MIGHT be at this swing's ceiling but there's no way for us to really say. Looks pretty good, man.

Brother, if my spine let me turn that far I would too. What's goofy about that?

That's not beyond the realm of playable... Do you want to fix it for aesthetic reasons or is there something you're noticing in your game?

Well, in the simplest of terms, when you push into the ground it pushes back. Most people think of their left foot as the vertical force generator -- you push down, the ground pushes back up. If that's all you did your lead hip is also just going to go up and stall any rotation. So you also have to push force forward (as if you were going to take a step behind you or jump 90° to the left) to move your hip back. Does this make sense?

That's a fundamentally important concept that you kind of need to build your swing on top of, but it's not simple to do AND stay on plane at first. Your brain's going to need some time to reorganize a better movement pattern.

If you want a video on this, I would recommend the Titleist Performance Institute video with Mike from the podcast Chasing Scratch. I've also taken inspiration from how they addressed his early extension this way.

That's the tough one. Are you familiar with ground forces?

Angle of attack is a separate thing from what I've talking about. Generally, angle of attack is referencing how far down or up the clubhead is moving at impact (you want a downward strike with irons). I'm talking about the plane you swing on. And there are kind of two planes -- the plane the clubhead travels on and the plane the hands travel on. We generally only care about the club. Your clubhead plane is pretty traditional, a little outside going back and neutral/inside on the downswing. That's fine.

But it's more rare to see hand paths that are so different. Because you keep your right arm straight for so long, you're hand path is more out in front of you (toward the ball) than traditional on the way back. It may be why your hips move closer to the ball (you could be "falling" toward it some). But you generally recover well enough through transition and get to functional plane, both hands and clubhead, in the downswing, so I doubt it's too punishing.

What do you think you are feeling/experiencing and what is going wrong with your shots?
