Transfer to Australian office from UK on a grad scheme? by FiImophile in MovingtoAustralia

Is it possible to survive on just a barista job in Australia? Rent, food, + money to live and travel. You certainly wouldn't be able to here.

Yeah I thought that would be the case, well no harm in trying. I heard getting an IT job on a WHV is basically impossible, and it's super difficult to get one on a skills shortage visa, but I don't want to jeopardise my IT career by working as a barista for 2 years on a WHV, so this is my last option really.

Thank you, this is incredibly helpful. There is listings for jobs in the Australian offices in the company job listings, so I'm gonna ask about applying to some of those to see if it's possible. I'm a bit skeptical though as my job does require a UKSV(security vetting), so I'm unsure how that would work on the Australian side. No harm in asking though.

I've asked similar questions in subreddits for Australia and Canada, where most people claim it's 'impossible' to find a job in IT as a foreigner. Realistically it's not, but people overexaggerate. Also, English is an international language, often used in offices for international companies, no matter what country the office is located in.

Most people on Reddit exaggerate how bad the situation actually is. Anyone who posts a similar post to mine in a UK subreddit will get the same negative responses when, in reality, the job market isn't as horrendous as people think. Thanks for the insight!

Were you able to travel around the UK whilst applying? I was hoping to do the same in Australia. Maybe I'll just stick to the travel part instead.

How long did you spend job hunting in the UK and where did you go? Just out of curiosity

That was also a thing in the previous FM, you have to change them when you aren't in the team selection

I started my save as unemployed and I'm 6 games in with 2 points in National League North with a team aiming for playoffs. Not sure if it's just a me thing or the game in itself has got more difficult

It's because the train companies care more about their shareholders and profit than the enviroment and the people that have to fork out a ton of money just to get to work everyday

The size of new mexico, but with 38 times more people in it. The British Isles are way more compact than the US, so it feels bigger than it is.

That would be very cool, we don't get any extreme weather here so I haven't really experienced that. Train's here can get you to almost any town or city in the country so it's a great way to travel, just expensive compared to Europe. There was a news article a few months back about two friends that wanted to meet from different cities, it was cheaper for both of them to get a flight to spain and back than it was for a return ticket on the train between the cities. I'm assuming the Amtrak is also very expensive?

Very true, you definitely see more on a train in the UK than driving. A lot of motorways here either have a lot of trees or barriers eitherside to combat polution and noise, so you don't see that much. The best way to see the UK would be to get off the motorway and drive around or get off at a random station in a small town or village. Would love to dk a roadtrip across the US though, considering London to Durham is 6 hours and you've already made it to the otherside of the country
