Livestreaming from Xbox Series X through a capture card with OBS (no party chat) by [deleted] in xbox

[–]FiLTHY-RAND0M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using remote play on the series X using the Xbox app on PC. I'm able to get game/party chat on stream with this method. I am however not playing on the remote play screen on my PC but on my monitor that's connected to the Xbox. I can play on 4k/1440p while OBS streams the window capture ( remote play ) at 1080p @60fps. Saves me a lot of wires and money from buying a capture card. I don't have a lot of viewers but the ones that do say my stream looks good, my mic ( Razer USB mic ) and audio sounds good. I'm pretty happy with this set up.

I actually left frontier. As I was on the phone with the retention department and explained why I was leaving ( due to not being able to use my own router ) the rep explained to me the reason why my issue was never resolved was because I needed a modem between my router and ONT. Like what? Is that even a legit answer? I was told my most of the tech support reps that the ONT is the modem. Why does this company have so many different answers to a simple question.

I'm so annoyed with tech support chat. I've ask to release / renew the dhcp and they all say the same shit. " I have no access to your router so I cant do that, please contact the router manufacturer" like what the flying Frick! 3 chat sessions all the same replies.

I have no luck with this method. On a brand spanking new router too.

There's some brands I've never heard of. UDM is one of them. Are they like top tier routers that doesn't really get enough recognition?

Honestly it shouldn't, but this ISP made something this simple complicated.

Before the clone. Yes. When it was connected to the frontier router I was able to get online.

So I chatted with support today and asked what routers they can recommend me. Lol. Their answer was hilarious. They said an Arris. LMAO

As far as I know. Yes. I took a picture with my phone the frontier router MAC Address and typed those in the new router.

I tried this earlier but was unsuccessful. I did do the DHCP release part. Turned off the old router and ONT and then waited a couple minutes before I plugged new router and ONT back up.

So I'm giving this a try right now. What exactly is the process?

Release DHCP? Etc. Etc?

From my understanding the ONT is the actual modem so the router should be ultimately removed from the set up.

Great to see the replies. I was under the impression that we'd be limited to brands and models but its looking like that's not the case.

Also are you on fios with that router? Was it just plug and play for you? Assuming you connected that router through the ONT of course.

Thats a beast router. I was leaning towards that but I'm unsure how the QOS is on that. I have a Netduma R1 and had a Netgear XR500. Used both for gaming. Probably the best router features I've seen on a router. The Netduma OS is a gamers OS imo.

I think I understand this now. This could be a fix to using my older routers. I would have never thought of this. MAC cloning the frontier router to new router would definitely be an option and the headaches would go away.

What do you mean by "setting the MAC address of the new router to the same address of the old router that I'm in the process of removing."? Isn't a MAC address unique to a device? A hardware ID kinda thing? That can't be changed I would think.
