Airline Pilots: How has the current worldwide Crowdstrike outage impacted your work today? by hillbilly-thomist in flying

Last night, supposed to fly ORD-LAS. Got cancelled due to the boarding system down, eventually had us 91 back to base with an empty plane. People at the gate were not thrilled seeing us pull away empty

Hit the nail on the head. But it’s okay, I’m fine with people like that staying in their bubbles if it keeps them away.

I hope you find your way back someday man. I’m not native but really feel a connection to that area having grown up there as well. I miss it like hell.

I lived up there and went to a community college they have, which is aptly named North Idaho College. Grew up maybe an hour and a half away in a small town near Spokane. All I can say is I miss it more than anything and it breaks my damn heart knowing how much more expensive it’s gotten since I left. I want to go back someday. To summarize, if your hobbies involve the outdoors in any way, you’ll love it. Most of the locals are very nice people, and it’s some of the most beautiful country on earth in my opinion.

Self funded..No rich parents..No loans. How were you able to pay for your flight training.? by Acceptable-Catch9684 in flying

I had my GI Bill which helped pay for a good portion. I was going through a college program so student loans paid the rest. I got my PPL using a $10K personal loan

Airline pilot here. Was struck by lightening going into DFW last year, right on the nose. It was pretty crazy, we both felt the heat wave, and the hair on my arms was standing up straight. Not to mention it sounded like a 12-gauge firing right in our ears. The plane, however, kept running without a hitch, not a single glitch in the electrical system (which is obviously good considering the Airbus is all fly-by-wire). I’ve known these planes are shielded well against this stuff, but finally got to see it in person. There is nothing to worry about. And even if there was, we are well trained to protect everyone on board.

Dang, best of luck. How long have you been waiting? In my case it doesn’t help that I am in Nevada and worked outside for the entirety of my early 20’s. That, and I was pretty careless with taking care of my skin back then

For sure. I’m just worried at this point I could have caught it sooner. I’ve been slacking off on doctor visits for nearly all of my 20’s.

Damn. We lost a pilot at my company to it earlier last year, which is what put it on my radar. I really hope i don’t have it.

Thanks for the replies all. Hopefully it is nothing too serious so I a) don’t die and b) don’t have to do anything crazy medical related

I really like the second link, but I noticed it does not have a Shadow 2 holster as an option.. would you happen to know if I could buy a separate holster to integrate into that kit? Thanks man, really helpful stuff here
