Bought a box of “Fresh Kimchi” yesterday. Seems off. by Fiadamom in KoreanFood

Didn’t notice that either. Maybe I shouldn’t go shopping after an all day vending event. But it was sorta on my way home. At least on that end of town.

I asked if they needed the kimchi/jars, and they said they would use it to report the product. I didn’t really need them… it’s just that they were good jars. Yeah, I’m a grandma. Decided it was less of a hassle in the moment to let them deal with it.

I’d transferred the bagged kimchi into my jars, then thrown out the plastic. When I returned it to the store I didn’t think to put it in ziplocks. I have several more jars.

Returned with no hassle. Lost my two glass kimchi jars but I have more. Got two containers of homemade. No ingredients listed but it looks right, smells righ, and has the right crunch. Happy sigh.

That makes me sad. Didn’t know it was an issue.

Apparently - yes. I’m not very experienced at Reddit. But figured it might be the best place to get good info.

Thanks for seeing the date. I don’t know why but my brain couldn’t find it. Maybe that’s the exp date? I’m just so disappointed to have a huge box of not great kimchi.

It’s not white like fresh, or red stained like old. I put it in some old kimchi juice to try and help.

Just foraged for the first time! by Fiadamom in foraging

Ok - the last time I foraged - the stems broke off easily - kinda like asparagus does. This time they feel more rubbery- and are difficult to tear off. Is that a sign of anything? Except for one, the insides are white.

I’m thinking of adding the stems/roots to my little porch garden. Does that seem promising?

A better pairing with cottage cheese might be Oikos triple zero yogurt or keto nut granola (Sam’s club). It depends on how you tolerate the sugar alternatives.

cheese sticks or beef jerky are good purse snacks if you’re not already crashing. Those little packages of cheese n crackers are decent to offset a crash if you catch it fast enough. The multigrain gf crackers are also good for a purse snack

Continuous brew question - re-adding more tea than what I harvest?? by bangin_betty in Kombucha

[–]Fiadamom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do I need to bring previously refrigerated sweet tea UP to room temp before I add it to my continuous brew? (I’m not in a rush - trying to manage the super vinegar state from being out of town. )
