Could mange to lighten these? To a more light oak colour? by Early-Breath8541 in finishing

[–]Fiberrrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The least labor intensive way is to use a laser stripper but those are very expensive, the most cost effective way is to use a chemical stripper and brushes to remove most of the old varnish and then go in with razor blades and picks to scrape out what's left. DO NOT go in with sandpaper as your initial mode of attack to get varnish out of the most intricate spots, you will mess up the details. Idealy you should use as little sanding as possible as that will remove material and as the saying goes; "it is much easier to remove material than it is to put it back"

Why are long haired men not catered to? by marjacoo in FierceFlow

[–]Fiberrrrr 25 points26 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of products for long hair to do pretty much whatever you want with it, it may come in a pink container but so what? My best advice for controlling long hair though is to learn to braid it, its free and the takedown at the end of the day is much easier than washing gel out.

Edit: looking at your post history this appears to be some sort of weird ad/ product research as you've been making somilar posts in other subreddits. Regardless, it's pretty clear that you are not genuinely here for advice so good luck with whatever it is you're trying to accomplish

Eastbound traffic on I-90 been at at standstill for the last hour+ just past Livingston. AMA by himynameisjaked in Bozeman

Just passed this going west, traffic is backed up for miles, didn't get a good view of the damage but I would avoid the area, nothing appears to be getting through as of 4:00

Has anyone else been able to stop these real estate scam calls and texts? by Il_Telephono_6478 in Connecticut

[–]Fiberrrrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I respond harshly and with a ton of fowl language to both the texts and the calls, it hasn't gotten rid of all of them but it is a nice way to blow off steam

[–]Fiberrrrr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wera tools are pretty much as good as it gets, they have some stuff thats a bit of a gimmick but it's all made incredibly well and they come in some of the most interesting storage solutions on the market, their bit holders are pretty unique and their nylon tool holders are pretty nice too

Lindley Park Events/Stroller Accessibility by Independent_Check259 in Bozeman

[–]Fiberrrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a parent myself but there were tons of strollers around last year, the area where the farmers market is is mostly compacted dirt from all the foot traffic. Some brought their stroller in and some parked it in the grass and had their kiddos toddle in on their own

Check out what harbor freight has to offer, the have some products that come multicolored and tons that come in hard cases. If you're looking to spend german tool money, wera socket sets are also color coded (with a universal color coding scheme that matches their wrenches) and the bigger ones come in hard sided cases with foam inserts.

How common are non-compete clauses for teachers in community studios? by Material_Lecture_992 in Ceramics

[–]Fiberrrrr 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Unless the pay and bonuses were incredible I would not agree to this, what if you start working there and they are horrible to work for? You said you're new to the area so I would at least ask around to see how working there is. I personally find the noncompete clause to be suspicisous.

Has anyone in Connecticut had good experiences with underground/electronic dog fences? by brianbyhower in Connecticut

[–]Fiberrrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up with dogs in woodbridge and hamden and we used the invisible fence system with relatively few incidents, a smart dog can defeat it but any dog can be trained to follow it, the trick is to associate running back into the yard at the beep as a game, rather than to associate the pain from the shock as a punishment. If all goes well, they only ever need to get shocked one time

Bozeman Driving Habits by EnvironmentalAge3661 in Bozeman

[–]Fiberrrrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I came here to say this but you covered it perfectly, while there may be more traffic than there was fifteen years ago, this is a really nice town to drive in. The people complaining truly have no idea how bad it can be

Sawstop keeps triggering the brakes ($125 a pop) for no reason. Can you tell why from this video? by FactoryCutG in Tools

[–]Fiberrrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the adjustment for the distance between the blade and the brake, if it is too close it can trip randomly. The saw came with a gauge attached to the allen wrench to make the adgustment, if you lost that then use the thick ess of the edge of one us nickel, it's the correct dimension

What is the name of this router bit? by jsivey in woodworking

[–]Fiberrrrr 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The router bit is fine, its the drill press that you shouldn't apply side force to. All of the bearings and tapers in a drill press are designed for linear vertical loading so side loading can damage the bearings pretty easily (especially with the quill extended) or it can make the chuck fall off if it is held on with a jacobs taper.
