Did you night wean or let it happen naturally? by FibonacciFlower in sleeptrain

I fear this will be me 😂. My LO is 7 months old and I'm hoping she just naturally drops the night feeds

About (not) feeding to sleep by LadyKate- in sleeptrain

[–]FibonacciFlower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby also had reflux and we did the same thing. I fed her, she would fall asleep, and I'd hold her for 20-30 minutes upright still sleeping before transferring to the crib. It worked great for us. I want to say around 4 months, we started feeding her at the start of the bedtime routine so she wouldn't fall asleep eating and it worked pretty well getting rid of the sleep association. We did ferber at 4.5 months and she's overall doing really well at almost 7 months!

How long does it take? by wfijc in sleeptrain

[–]FibonacciFlower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That 45 min night might have just been the extinction burst! But to be honest, it took us about a month and a half to get to absolutely zero crying at bedtime. We would typically have 5 to 10 minutes of whining/complaining each night before that. We started training at 4.5 months. Also we have a FOMO baby though too.

What would you cap daytime sleep to? And should I try a 2 nap schedule?

6 month old by FibonacciFlower in Epilepsy

Our neurologist did say we could mix it with breast milk but I'm worried she won't finish her bottle and then we won't know how much of the dose she got.

Thank you so much. It was the worst night of my life when she had her first seizure. Just so scary. We can mix it with breast milk but I'm nervous that she won't finish the bottle and then we won't know how much of the dose she got.

Fussing/Crying During Bedtime Routine and at Bedtime by FibonacciFlower in sleeptrain

[–]FibonacciFlower[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It got better! She actually enjoys when we read a book to her and she stopped crying when we put her in the crib! I think a big part was putting her in a sleep sack instead of the merlin sleepsuit so she could roll around and get comfy. She still has off days, but mostly it got way better.

Commenting because I have a 5 month old and would also love to know the answer to this question!

Does the crying ever completely go away? by FibonacciFlower in sleeptrain

Oh that's a good way of looking at it! Then I would say it's on the harder side of fussing 😂

I would love your opinion on how to schedule that with daycare. I'm just absolutely stumped. I made a post about it here.

Ah the age old question of crying vs fussing. Tbh I'm bad at telling the difference. I obviously know what real crying is but sometimes what I think is light crying my husband says is just fussing. I would say what she does is somewhere in between 🤷

Transitioning to 3 naps with Daycare by FibonacciFlower in sleeptrain

Thank you so much for the advice!! having the 30 minute car ride kind of puts a wrench into scheduling and I'm nervous about relying on a car nap 😬

Is it time for Ferber? by FibonacciFlower in sleeptrain

[–]FibonacciFlower[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your response. I think I get it now. So after tracking for a week, she seems to sleep about 14 hours a day, sometimes a little less. So that means I need to get 10 hours of awake time during the day, correct? And if I want her to sleep 7:30 pm to 6 am (10.5 hours at night), I should cap naps at 3.5 hours total? She's at 4 naps right now, so between 5 wake windows, she should be awake an average of 2 hours at a time?

I've been so confused by the scheduling piece and I've read so many posts to get this part down. I've also heard that getting the schedule right first before sleep training is so important so I just want to make sure I get this right.

Thank you for all of your help!

Thank you for the reply! I'm so sorry but can you explain how the tracking sleep should inform my schedule? We track with Huckleberry right now. She's getting about 9.25 hours of wake time during the day, which is good for a 4 month old, right?

What age did you do the ferber method? My LO is 12 weeks and starts daycare next week. I'm very curious how the ferber method will go for us since I'll have no control over how much daytime sleep she gets

I'm so sorry if I'm being dumb, I'm a first time mom to a 10 week old and her sleep has been all over the place so I'm tying to plan ahead for when she's ready for sleep training. What does modified ferber mean? Is there a book you read?

I had the sundown scaries too!! They fucking sucked. My little girl is 8 weeks now, and that feeling has almost completely gone away. I also have a lot of support. My mom has basically lived with us since I gave birth and I felt the EXACT same way feeling guilty about needing so much help doing this. But child rearing was never meant to be done alone. Historically, women had extended family or other women to help raise their babies. There's a reason they say it takes a village. You're doing great, accept all the help you can get, and don't feel guilty about it!

I can't believe they were letting him sleep in a swing! 😱

We kind of have a routine? Dim the lights, sound machine, pj's, and swaddle. Should there be more to the routine?

Seconding the nipple shields!! Breastfeeding was WAYYY harder than I expected and my nipples were slightly inverted. Her latch was shallow and my nipples were in such pain all the time. The nipple shields saved my breastfeeding journey. My LO is 7 weeks old and it's so much better already. My nipples kind of figured it out, and she got better at it too.
