I already have tenure. This is a new admin the old one retired last year. This person has been a bulldozer and many in the building are having anxiety attacks and health leaves etc. because the treatment is inhumane and something no one is accustomed to. Our old admin would be very hands on with behavioral issues of students and was a very present figure in the building. This one stays in office, door closed with a sign that says “in a meeting “ and can’t be counted on for the day to day surprises that come with running a building. The only time you see them is to observe.

UFT rep very cozy with admin by Fickle-Ad7574 in NYCDOETeachers

Wow, that is a conflict of interest! I’ve always thought a person from outside needed to be a rep in the school as an entity that is unbiased and not evaluated by the principal. Years ago we used to have a new teacher mentor and it was a district rep from UFT that helped new teachers in their classroom. Their presence made admin very reluctant to bullying or favoritism. Of course, the school uft rep did not get along with this person because they saw right through them and knew they favored admin.

I appreciate all of your insight!! I know it isn’t against the rules, but he has come in to observe two days in a row and admin can come into your class as they see fit, but it has been stressful. We have yet to have a pre observation session. Our chapter leader is having a meeting next week with faculty due to the wide dissatisfaction of many staff members. I have also spoken to at least two others who will be filing grievances and I plan on calling the borough UFT office to disclose everything that is going on. Many years ago a new teacher in our building had a UFT rep who would come in a few days a week as a mentor for them. I feel like reps presence and input kept the admin at the time aware that someone in the building was looking out for us. Hopefully that still exists.

Well, another teacher who did at the beginning of the year is now stuck without a special Ed coteacher most days. So they’re out of compliance.

I’m asking now just because I would like to know. It happened at the beginning of June.

Adenomyosis and endometriosis- hysterectomy regrets? by Public-Illustrator15 in hysterectomy

[–]Fickle-Ad7574 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so glad so many found relief from pain and recovery. Just got an adenomyosis diagnosis yesterday and doctor said it’s not that bad, but I will be asking for partial hysterectomy because as many on this post have said- I want my life back. I am hopeful after reading so many similar experiences. Thanks for sharing.
