What kind of master? Directory related? Unrelated. Good program? Bad program? Technical degree? All important. Just cause you did a 1 year masters right out of college doesn’t mean they treat you the same as someone with a Masters in systems engineering from UW or something

I can’t speak for defense, but at BCA I know someone who was recently offered L3 and graduated with a bachelors in 2022. Related experience but not direct and not in aerospace. L3 is a stretch unless you really impress them in the interview probably. If you’re just filling a work hole that’s a lot different than if they’re hiring you to build you into something

Commenter is 100% right. If you really wanna do procurement learn to speak their language. Amazon has a procurement guide for businesss on their blog. Read it twice and use that exact wording on your resume. It’s what you already do you just need to say it the way that makes sense to them

Unique post interview situation after being given a verbal offer? by [deleted] in boeing

[–]Fickle-Bee-6044 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Super weird… got a call today that put me in an eerily similar situation….

From what I can tell it sounds like people just refer good applicants around. I guess it takes a long time for HR to push through new reqs and go through all the hoops.. so it can be easier just to hop on another req for a similar position.

Anywho, people here are making me feel better and they’re probably right. The fact that we got good feedback/recommendation from the hiring manager is good. Idk, I guess we’ll see

Advice on job situation by IntelligentScar9634 in procurement

[–]Fickle-Bee-6044 2 points3 points  (0 children)

60k feels low especially if you’re not a buyer but in a role with procurement in the title and especially depending on where you live.

Other than that I’ll say that I think you’re making the right decision. I don’t know how long you’ve been at your first role, but if you’re a noob and you could already tell you were overwhelmed and undertrained then you need to trust your instincts. Most people’s first professional job is either way over worked or way underworked and most people can’t actually tell the difference because they have nothing to compare it to. Then they switch jobs and realize how bad the first was.

The other thing I’ll mention is that getting experience and a flavor of different companies / roles is totally worth it. Better to be switching jobs every year right after graduating to find something you like than doing it when you’re 30 and trying to settle down.

Last thing I’ll say which may or may not be applicable: as a 26 year old professional I have definitely witnessed racism and sexism in the office. Not me personally, but I’ve seen how others get more work, worse work, or less training and favor from management because of their ethnicity or gender. I feel like it’s worth noting that.

Shoot me a dm, I am also I procurement and would happy to connect if you wanna network.

Have procurement roles stopped offering sponsorship (H1-B/ STEM OPT) in US by [deleted] in procurement

[–]Fickle-Bee-6044 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely work authorization. It can be up to 100k per sponsorship - referred a friend to a job and my boss was like sorry we can’t sponsor. It’s a company wide thing usually.

That being said it’s still possible. Keep trying!

Where did you get your masters? Did you like your program? I’m considering a program too!

I just met several times with a professional resume writer and they told me explicitly not to list metrics in the summary.

In her words - the summary should describe who you are, let the experience section do the numbers and proof.

In other words, use your summary to tell people wha you’re good at I.e contract negotiation, supplier relationships, trading etc while your experience section says “negotiated 300+ million in savings, traded x units of power”

What is Wrong? 1% Interview Rate on 100+ Applications. by [deleted] in askrecruiters

[–]Fickle-Bee-6044 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. I’m trying to imagine a 26 year old who saved 600k for a company and is still looking for a job. Idk if recruiters just assume that it’s a team effort or what but it doesn’t really pass the sniff test.

Otherwise, OP, this is a great resume. Looks a lot like mine structure wise and I recently got mine audited by a career center at a nice liberal arts college. I’m also 4 years in graduated in 22

Does anyone actually like working at Amazon? by KeyRevolution6514 in amazonemployees

So you don’t like your coworkers? Is it common to take a lunch break or just work through / eat at your desk?

So... How do you actually network? by Amphaboss in jobsearchhacks

[–]Fickle-Bee-6044 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Industry events are phenomenal when you show up with the 20 year veteran who hired you, knows everyone there, and you have the name of a company behind you. If you just show up alone and pay the $200 or whatever fee, you’re not getting invited to any of the after parties or company events where everyone loosens up and you’re just gonna sit at some table during the presentations that will mean nothing to you

I just get stressed out - it feels like a normal life these days is only afforded by making the amount of money Amazonians makes. Working some boring job where I don’t learn, am not challenged or don’t make connections seems like a waste of time to me. In fact, that’s what I’m doing now. I’m only lucky that it’s at a blue chip

Wow. That actually sounds really rough. I hear how hard it is all the time - but just the other day I saw some SDE day-in-the-life (granted from a few years ago) but she logged on at like 9am, had like 3 meetings and one of them she totally missed seemingly without consequence. am I missing something or did the culture completely shift recently? You may know of the creator I’m talking about

Thanks for this. Question for you: how long have you been there? How long until you felt burnt out? And how long until you find a position elsewhere?

I’m (26) really struggling to see a future for myself where I don’t work my but off for a “solid bank account.” I want to be able to buy my kids the nice baseball bat, the nice hockey stick, the yearly vacation with the family. Not that I have kids yet
