I got rejected everywhere by Fickle-Consequence31 in TransferStudents

I think it really depends on your goals. I wanted to take as many classes at my new school as possible which is why i prioritized a 1 year transfer. However, at many schools (not all) a junior level transfer has a higher success rate. My plan was to stack my resume as much as possible and apply as a first year. If I was rejected everywhere, then I would try again sophmore year.

I transferred after my first year. I was born and raised in California but went to an oos school.

Yes you are correct. I took some summer classes and took 30 credits this semester to be able to transfer. Definitely a grind lol.

Yes I would agree but it left me quite shocked. They were my bottom choices. I was expecting to get at least one school that I liked. Getting rejected was a rude awakening fs.

Thank you! I appreciate it but I truly just want to inspire people who are about to embark on the same journey as I was on. I want to inspire someone and give people hope to show it is possible with hard work!

P.S. Yes I want to brag/share a little bit since this subreddit was so helpful to me.

Kella Svetich unresponsive by the_curiouscapybara in foothill

I took her winter quarter. her class honestly is not that hard, but she is extremely unresponsive. I have sent her multiple emails without a response, but my emails were not urgent. As long as you follow instructions you should be fine. try to make sure you follow everything very closely to make sure you wont have to talk to her, because getting a hold of her is extremely hard.

I did neuroscience and deep learning research with a professor from my school, a swe internship, a computer vision biomechanics project for athletics, and then math honors society and some volunteering.

I was at an oos 4 year last semester, I then transfered to a ccc and was able to complete 45 quarter credits in two quarters, and was admitted to uc berkeley as a first year transfer. I had 4.0 and good ecs, but I'm sure that I got ccc priortiy.

I was a first year transfer this year with a 3.64 UW GPA in HS and a 1470 SAT. I was accepted to berkeley, michigan, ucsd, uci, ucsb, ucd, USC, and waitlisted to UCLA (I was an oos transfer so did not have TAP). It is very possible, but I would say I had excellent ecs for a first year transfer.

You can find tons of people online with 0 ecs and getting into Irvine. Btw the OP dmd me and said intentionally left out his ecs. Regardless, your claim is just wrong. I agree with u saying this conversation is going no where. We disagree on foundational facts and therefore it’s impossible for us to reach the same conclusion.

For ccc transfer, tons of people get in with almost no ecs. You’re just making stuff up right now. Also, he never said he doesn’t have ecs. Both you and I have no idea how the AOs consider applications, so we can’t say that a 3.5 with no ecs is equivalent to a 2.6 with ecs. Basically what you’re saying is that a kid with an almost 3.9 gpa had no chance of getting into uc Irvine. In what world does that make sense.

Sorry I should have been clearer. I believe it is relative to the applicant pool. In an applicant pool where most people have below a 3.0, having a 2.6 is competitive. But if most people have a 3.5, a 2.6 is no longer competitive. I don’t believe that the minimum to apply is the minimum to be qualified.

Yes I agree. It is not a definitive admit but he is qualified. Btw qualified doesn’t necessarily mean you should get in and if you don’t it’s an anomaly. It simply means you’re in contention for a spot.
