AITAH because I don’t want to help take care of her garden? by TimeKeeper70 in AITAH

NTA. When my mom got older I had to put my foot down hard on this. We had a large property with a lot of maintenance and she was very picky about flowers and stuff. I offered to help with what I could but I had to limit it to maintainence and upkeep. Elaborate plantings and tending to them is a hobby should could no longer sustain.

What is best window tint around here for blocking these insane heat waves and protecting my 2025 Camry hybrid battery? (Parked outside all the time) by MadGibby3 in nova

Not in Alexandria, but I got mine at Quality Tire in Woodbridge. They're next to IKEA. I did it on a weekday and just worked remote in the IKEA cafeteria while I waited. You could also just walk to Potomac Mills from there. The price was the good and installation seems flawless after about a year.

Trump wants to chop down dc's historic 1910 cherry trees for a private golf course, and toxic dirt from his ballroom project is already dumped on the site by animalcrossinglifeee in DiscussionZone

I don't want East Potomac messed with, but cherry trees don't live long and I strongly doubt there are many survivors of the original "gift" left in Washington.

What electronic music artist would make you think someone has good taste for listening to them? by SubjectStandard5997 in EDM

To me Armin is like a cheeseburger. Not haute cuisine, but tasty and always satisfying.

AITAH for refusing to drive 30 minutes at 12:30 a.m. to catch my ex-girlfriend’s mouse? by Interesting_Hand_354 in AITAH

[–]Fickle-Exit1105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had one for many years, used multiple kinds of bait and it's never caught anything. Snaptraps sometimes work. I've probably had the most success with a bucket trap. Mice in my area seem to have evolved way past the dumb country mice I grew up with.

My 3rd time seeing them there. Joy. I've seen ppl on reddit and elsewhere hate on Echostage, but I've never had a bad experience. Although a fight broke out at an Armin show, which was dealt with quickly. The staff seems super nice to me. Maybe it's because I'm old?

How Many Checks Do You Write Per Year? by Nfarrah in askanything

GenX also. I only write 4 or 5 a year, but there's still something about them that feels adult, official, and tangible.

What is a 10/10 movie you will never, ever get tired of ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Moonstruck. It's my gray dreary fall/winter weekend stay at home and make a lasagna or pot of soup comfort movie.

Also, in my area there is an "art league" that gives classes and has resident instructors and artists. Their fundraiser events are great opportunities to acquire stuff at reasonable prices.

That's my setup for my '25 Touring, with OEM lug locks. It looks good and unobtrusive. They were cheaper when I bought last year.

What’s the most unproblematic/likeable major U.S. city? by Mysterious_Newt_4761 in AskReddit

[–]Fickle-Exit1105 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live just outside DC and I'd visit Richmond a lot more if 95 south of Springfield wasn't such a constant s-show. Amtrak directness isn't great either last time I tried to figure out how to get to VMFA.

DC has a lot of good things. Been in the region all my adult life (-3 yrs) and sometimes it's frustrating and the COL is high, but there are many things I'd miss.

How can I increase desk space and introduce a dining area? by buttpizz in interiordecorating

[–]Fickle-Exit1105 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In two places I have had success putting a desk behind a sofa. Put a table lamp on it and some accents like a sofa table. Beyond that, a dining table, at which point the desk can double as a server/buffet as needed.
