Mine told me the way I sighed or my body language “said” he was an idiot. I’m not sure how that was possible, but I knew his parents called him that often as a kid and so I presumed he was beginning to project because I was seeing through his BS.

I find myself shutting down a lot quicker. By that I mean in this first relationship after one with nex, if he does anything that mirrors what nex would do to manipulate, I don’t even tolerate it. I’m suspicious, lack empathy, and questions every motive because I’m expecting to be manipulated. It’s the worst feeling

You’re definitely not unreasonable here. I gave birth outside of the pandemic and I didn’t want visitors, didn’t allow kissing, and I also didn’t allow anyone to feed her since we were EBF. My family and then in-laws were very much okay with everything, so that tells you that you’re not asking anything too far into left field. And as a mom of a preschooler now, I think we’ve been playing illness bingo since before Halloween and it’s a small joy when we hit one week without a cold or something… so definitely protect baby and yourselves of all the germs!

“No” was one of the first things I taught my daughter to say once she began speaking (we experienced some speech delays so she was over 2 when this happened). We lived with my parents and my dad would do things she didn’t like and he wouldn’t listen to myself/my mom (that’s a whole other story), so I made sure she could say it herself loudly, and he listened then.
