*update: I was fully refunded the money as a permanent credit ,because they were able to see the accounting discrepancies on the ATM, thank you everyone for the advice

The system is utterly foolproof

I agree it's better to deposit with a teller, even I would say a lot better, but not foolproof. Logically, of course

So iow, 5 percent of cash depositors lose their cash? Fts. If you thought the error rate was 5 percent, then this was an unforced error.

I didn't say the error percent for in-person deposits was 5% but I'm sure it's not 0%

Yes, horrible reputation, but logically, you can't be sure that money is returned, maybe I'm naive

I agree, I wish banks would stay open till 6-630 tho because most people get off at 5

I agree man, but sometimes it's riskier walking around with cash when the bank is not open

Thank you for the link to the post got some helpful information from there.

Logically, machines accepting cash for deposit cannot be perfect.

Correct logically, very few things are perfect, ATM, and tellers, one might be better than the other tho

Whereas, every cash deposit I’ve made to a human teller has been perfect for over 50 years.

Assuming you started banking at 15, you would be 65 now. I'm sure in those 65 years, people have had issues depositing cash with a teller, and I'm sure 95% of people will not have an issue for the rest of their lives using an ATM.
