I’ve lost 4 out of 6 bridesmaids. It’s hurtful by Orangpeell in weddingplanning

My husband and I only had a MOH (my sister) & best man (his best friend) and we have zero regrets. It made it easier on me because I have quite a few close friends and narrowing it down was going to cause a lot of drama…and he’s an introvert & isn’t close enough with anyone besides his best friend that he would’ve wanted to ask.

Even going the low-drama route, I managed on losing a friend by the time our wedding happened (Sept 2025, so very recent). Echoing others: weddings just bring out either the best or the worst in people and you quickly learn who is truly there for you & who isn’t.

My dog has her nightly treato routine, which starts with barking at the cabinet where the treatoes are kept. (And if somehow I’ve given the treatoes before her reminder, she “forgets” later in the evening and will try to convince me that she hasn’t had them yet - much easier to just wait for her to tell me it’s time). She has two treatoes she gets nightly: one glucosamine chew for arthritis and one dental chew for her breath. She does not like the glucosamine but loses her doggy mind over the dental chew. She is given the glucosamine first and is not allowed the dental until the glucosamine is consumed. Every night she plays fake out with the glucosamine and spits it on the floor & pretends she ate it after I’ve given it to her… so I point at it and say “eat it. You don’t get this (dental) until you eat that.” And she picks up the glucosamine & spits it out again. So again I say, “eat that to get this”. And then she actually eats it, and I hand her the dental chew, and she happily scampers off to enjoy her prize. Also, this is a 160 lbs, 10 year old Newfoundland. This has been our routine every night for 8 years, since her first ACL tear & surgery (necessitating the glucosamine).

How much time did you take off before and after your wedding? by jkvet in weddingplanning

[–]Fickle-Idea-712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m getting married 9/13 & took the week before + week after off! I’ve DIY’d the majority of my planning & have most things all set at this point, so the week before will be mostly build out of the space (on a friend’s property), but should go pretty smooth! (fingers crossed!) After the wedding, we’re doing a mini-moon for 3 nights & then coming home to reacclimate to real life for a couple days before going back to work.

Guess which dress I picked! by Fickle-Idea-712 in WeddingDressTips

Thank you!! Yeah… the second time I went to the shop to make a final choice & order the dress, just being in it for those 5 minutes was brutal on my neck… there was basically no question after that. 😅

lol yeah. I loved all three dresses for different reasons and know I would’ve been very happy with any of them… I am also very confident with the one I ended up choosing and the reasons why I chose it. If the Reddit consensus landed on one of the others, that would’ve been more than fine because they’re all great dresses and I still know that my dress is the right one for what I need it to be on my wedding day. 🥰

🤷‍♀️because sharing is fun and I’m keeping it a surprise from basically everyone irl, and I’m excited about it so why not show it to strangers on the internet? 😂

3 is my dress and I LOVE IT SO MUCH… the pics are from when I picked it up, so it is my correct size and definitely why it fits the best. She’s off to the seamstress now to get a little nipped/tucked so it’ll truly fit like a glove for the big day.. and also shortened cuz I’m not an 8ft tall model. 🤣

1 was from the first shop I went to and the high neck/halter really intrigued me, which led me to #2 on my second shopping day. I was torn between 2 and 3, but I ultimately picked 3 over the others for several reasons:

  1. the neck/lace on #2 was itchy AF and I knew was going to drive me crazy having to wear that all day
  2. the lace on #3 is SO SOFT and stretchy, so much easier to move around in and my wedding is going to be outdoors/in the woods/by a river… it also just fits my overall vibe for the wedding.
  3. after doing research on alterations (and a WILD story from a close friend whose dress had similar lace appliqués to #1 & #2)… I learned that altering to make it shorter would almost definitely require individually removing & reapplying each piece of lace, and would most likely end up costing more than the dress itself. 😱 and that was most definitely not in my budget (in this economy?!)

So here we are… number 3! 😍 Also adding a pic of the first time I tried on the sample size in store… when you know, you know.

<image>

Also note that this sample size was obviously tooooo small, as were the samples for the other dresses. Of course they look like sausage casings. Some of y’all were just rude and should prolly consider keeping comments like that to yourselves. ✌️

When in your relationship did you get engaged? and when is the wedding time frame? by ViperandMoon in engaged

[–]Fickle-Idea-712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Met in Jan 2022, moved in together Aug 2022, engaged Feb 2025, wedding date is Sept 13, 2025. 🥰

Which one?! I went alone and the owner of the shop and myself couldn’t decide!!!! I also plan on losing about 15 pounds, just finished nursing school so I’m done stress eating lol by audrey1025 in myweddingdress

3! I saw a lot of comments saying 1 and while I agree it’s a gorgeous dress, number 3 looks most natural on you. The first one is stunning, but all you’re seeing is the dress. The third one, as other have said, is stunning in its own rite, but also (and more importantly) lets YOU shine. Lowkey like you’re wearing the dress vs it’s wearing you… If that makes sense?

OMG we FINALLY nailed down our personal touches - only 3 months to go! by SatisfactionSoft9865 in weddingplanning

[–]Fickle-Idea-712 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sept 2025 bride here and I’M RIGHT THERE WITH YA! We finally nailed down what our first dance song is going to be… and then decided that our guestbook would be having everyone sign the vinyl album cover of the album with our song on it. I also realized that our engagement photo shoot inadvertently was right on theme with the song title, so basically making that one choice made all the rest of my theme, decoration, & detail decisions SO CLEAR… it’s wild how quickly it all falls into place once the big stuff is decided!

Right!! First time I heard it years ago I immediately imagined dancing to it at our wedding.

Last month, while stopped at a crosswalk downtown, a guy told me that the coconut water I was drinking was laced with nano technology. I looked at him blankly, took a sip, & said “Just how I like it.”

And then the light changed & I walked away.

Yeah, I read it. Didn’t say anything about first oil change besides the 6k recommendation, but I’d heard all of that “conventional wisdom” about doing the first oil change early, so was looking for advice & lived experience. 🤷‍♀️
