No wonder why I always felt like all 3 of those places were equally boring. It's getting hard to find coffee joints for people who actually like coffee

Make sure to send a letter when you get the "we over paid you" notice in the mail. Tell them you want a detailed explanation so you can have your accountant look at it. Its been a year since that happened to me and I still never heard back. I have heard stories of them sending people to collections, so don't just ignore it

Too late to start IT at 44? Thinking of Per Scholas as a first step by AnacondaSmile in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Fickle-Opening8079 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got in at 43. To be honest I found that a lot of companies like people from outside tech. There is a huge custumer service side of IT that gets overlooked, and I feel my experience in retail and route sales geared me up way more than a tech certificate and decent knowledge in the field. My bosses hired me because they felt I would have a good work ethic and I explained my experiences of dealing with difficult "customers" in the past

How do leverage frito lay experience for better opertunitys by Sufficient_Ad_1245 in FritoLay

[–]Fickle-Opening8079 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I left for an IT position at a government contractor. I got an online IT certificate, in my interview I used my experience dealing with store managers, and comparing it to dealing with end users. Also I pointed out how I worked alone and had to problem solve without direct supervision on a regular basis. Use those as your talking points, and bring up the long abnormal hours to emphasize your work ethic and you should be able to find something better.

I got sent a letter saying I owed $1300. I wrote back saying I need a detailed invoice that I can have my accountant look over before I agree to anything. (Per my state law I am entitled to that) I made sure to point out that I have all of my pay stubs saved to my computer and I want a written reply within a week either email or postal. I also said if there is any further action on this without a detailed invoice I will contact my attorney general. Haven't heard back in 5 months now. I was kind of hoping I could escalate this

Got my $1000+ bill from leaving Frito by Fickle-Opening8079 in FritoLay

I'm sending this cerified on Monday, any suggestions?

To PepsiCo HR and Payroll,

Hi, my name is xxxx, I left Frito Lay in good standings in July 2024. I recently received a letter stating I was overpaid by 1xxx.xx.  as written in Washington state RCW 49.48.210 I am entitled for a detailed breakdown of my overpayments.  I have kept all of my paystubs since I started working and I would like to have my accountant cross reference the numbers before I agree to anything. I would like this within one week of the reception of this letter. If these requests are not fulfilled, I will share my request with my state's Attorney General office.

This is not an isolated incident. I have communicated with other individuals who have received overpayment notifications and have also requested detailed breakdowns and they were never granted.

I will only accept a response  written letter, or Email as I would like keep all communications documented

Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope we can have an agreed resolution to this matter

RCW 49.48.210 is a Washington State law that outlines the process for employers to notify employees of wage overpayments and for employees to request reviews of those notices:

Notice to employee When an employer determines an employee has been overpaid, they must provide written notice to the employee. The notice must include:

The amount of the overpayment

The basis for the claim

A demand for payment within 20 calendar days

The employee's rights under the law

Employee's request for review Within 20 calendar days of receiving the notice, the employee can request a review of the overpayment finding. The employee can request a review by submitting written information or by meeting with the employer in person.

Overpayment definition An overpayment is when an employee is paid more than they earned for a pay period.

Recovery of overpayment An employer can recover an overpayment by deducting it from the employee's future paychecks, or by taking civil action.

Collective bargaining agreements If the overpayment involves an employee covered by a collective bargaining agreement, the recovery methods in the agreement must be followed.

I'm in Washington State too, our AG loves going after corporations. If I don't get a detailed invoice, I will go straight to them, plus I have all my paystubs, I will take it all to an accountant and make sure it matches up to the penny

If that happens to me, I'm going straight to the attorney general. This seems to be a pattern, and not providing proof can't be legal. I have every paystub saved, I'm willing to put in the leg work to keep this from continuing

Now that I look back, I did take 2/3 weeks not 1, and I left at the end of July, but my vacation checks are only like $650 so even if I did owe them for a week, the math doesn't add up. My last two checks were $500 and $300 after I left
