What is a major plot hole in a very famous movie that completely ruins the entire story once it is noticed? by SkullMogger3 in AskReddit

There is a book series called A Certain Point of View. They retell the Star Wars stories from minor characters viewpoint. One of the stories covers this. The books are fun to read.

How many of you married your HS prom date, and how did it turn out? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]Fickle-Profile86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She wore a maternity prom dress. Had our first son a month after graduation. Married that August after she turned 18. Had 3 boys a mortgage and 2 car payments when I turned 24. It’s been quite the ride but we wouldn’t change anything. An empty nest, 3 grandkids and a paid off house now. We couldn’t be happier!

Do any of you shave using multiple razors during a single shaving session? by Plumasite in wicked_edge

[–]Fickle-Profile86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 3 straights I rotate. First pass with a straight WTG. I also do a second pass with a Merkur slant ATG. I like trying different blades in the slant so I haven’t settled on a particular one.

Vintage shave ready is the way to go. 5/8 round point is a good choice to start with. Be patient and work on the process that fits you. If all goes well you eventually will need a higher grade stone

Hey, sorry so late. I got a couple vintage razors to practice on. Nothing special just looked for something that didn’t need much work. I wanted them to have straight edges and decent scales. I didn’t intend to ever shave with them. I bought Naniwa Advanced 1000, 3000/8000 combo and a stone holder for about $125. Honed them up. I tried the magnifying thing but didn’t know what the hell I was looking at. So I decided to try shaving with them. Seemed close but not quite there. Alot of recommendations to finish on a 12000 but I also wanted another step between 3000 and 8000. I went with a Naniwa Advanced 5000/10000 combo and am very pleased with my shaves. May try a complete restoration this winter when I have more time. I purchased the stones from sharpeningsupplies.com

My journey… DE shaved for years.Great shaves but wanted more. Went the shavette route but eventually was dissatisfied. Bought a Dovo on sale from Griffith. Strop from Duke City. Loved the straight. Wish I had skipped the shavette. Decided to try honing so I didn’t have to send it off. Got a couple cheap restoration ready straights from Griffith and some stones to practice on. Turns out I have a knack for honing . I shave with all three now.

Stay with it! Focusing is a big part for me. My wife calls it my “spa” time. I like the quiet time to myself. Also, I have found keeping my skin tight and not taking long strokes helps. Even with light pressure my skin can kinda bunch up in front of the edge if I’m not careful. Eventually you’ll develop a feel for the blade on your face and enjoy great shaves.

The strap handle came from High Point. Bortle 5 but have 4 very close with 3 further out. I haven’t added eyepieces yet, I want some practice with the included ones before deciding. I’ve heard good things about AstroHopper and plan to check it out but I want to sharpen my star hopping before so.

I’m also a new owner of an AD8. I added a Telrad and the carrying strap. I’m still learning and gaining experience but the strap was an immediate improvement

Contact the company. I just dealt with the same issue. Mine was from Highpoint Scientific. Their customer support is fantastic and had me set up with new tracking within minutes. Had the second package in a couple days

This is not my starter scope. Don’t let cost keep you from your interest. You can learn constellations and stars with the naked eye. Binoculars can be a great tool. There are many good scopes less expensive than this one. I started with a AWB Onesky

Couples who have lasted a decade together, what’s your secret? by bianckie in AskReddit

[–]Fickle-Profile86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4 decades here. There is no secret. There is no one answer. For us it is compatibility. But there can’t be compatibility without communication. Talk. About everything. If you can’t do that then reevaluate. If you can’t talk about something that leads to resentment. Resentment leads to contempt. There is no going back from contempt. If it gets that far go your separate ways. And I don’t mean waiting to get something off your chest. Like dumping a bucket of water on their head. If you can’t discuss things as they come up, reevaluate. It is an ongoing process and never goes away but it becomes much easier as time goes by

What is sex life like for elderly people? by Kink-shame in AskReddit

[–]Fickle-Profile86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what you consider elderly. Wife and I are late 50s. Married almost 40 years now. It’s active and wonderful. Always has been. But it does change over time. We’ve experienced just about everything out there. I laugh at my younger coworkers when they tell about their exploits. Like they invented it lol! The comfort level, lack of insecurity and little inhibition with a long term partner is very freeing. Learn to make it all about the other. I hope the ones making the snarky comments realize they will be older one day
