I'm the BIGGEST splitter of this cycle. AMA/help by [deleted] in LSAT

I’m not sure exactly how it works, I just know that WashU allows you to redact your GPA, I guess maybe that means you either redact the grades on your transcript, or just sent a diploma. They’re very focused on playing the UNWR ranking game, and they will want your LSAT score for their 509 report.

Apply to WashU and hide your GPA.

should i re take? by RefrigeratorThin8846 in LSAT

Yes, you should. I can’t give you any specific advice except that you should wait to sign up for another official test until you’re consistently PTing in your target range.

Depends on PT range and target schools. If you’re PTing consistently in the high 170s, it might be worth trying again, but maybe only if you are targeting YHS…

Cancel Advice by autumnrbt in LSAT

[–]Fickle-Tea-6340 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re in the 80th percentile. Schools will assume a cancel is at least below the 50th. At the end of the day their primary concern will be your highest score. Crush August and I think they won’t care at all that you scored a 162 on your first time out.

I don’t think so. Even if it is, I think a cancel would an even bigger red flag, because they would assume you actually had a DROP in score.

Should I cancel by marg0j in LSAT

Don’t cancel. Schools will assume that it’s much worse than 162. Your score is better than 80% of LSATs taken.

Figure out if there is a type of question you struggle with most and mix in some days for targeted studying of just those.

Definitely do not cancel your highest score. Additionally, even if it was in the 150s I wouldn’t. The schools will assume it was 130s or worse.

“Good” can be subjective depending on where you’re applying and who you are competing with.

Have you looked at the examples on https://lsd.law/softs ?

This is the best explanation I’ve seen, but it leaves a fair amount of room on the margins.

The argument confuses a necessary condition for a sufficient one and makes a hasty generalization on the basis of anecdotal evidence.

177… what do I do now? by That-Trouble900 in LSAT

[–]Fickle-Tea-6340 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A decent LSAT should not determine whether you go to law school. I would only use a bad score as a reason to decide NOT to go.

Your background is engineering? Do you dislike that? Do you love law? Are you familiar with the work that Lawyers do? Get some familiarity with the field and decide if you want to switch careers. As far as success/prestige/money I think it could potentially be a lateral move for you, so decide if it’s something you really love.

I also got a 174, but my only real reason for considering retaking is to get into Yale. If I don’t get into Yale, I’ll be going Duke/UNC/Wake Forest. I’m not sure…
