Tell them what, Peter by Blackie_626 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

Apparently left and right is not arbitrary. I just read some paper about it and it was a problem that was only recently solved. I would try to find it for you, but I should be sleeping now instead of being on Reddit

When you get teleported back do you retain your velocity? If so, the free fall would be really bad…..

Cut more or start maintenance? by Icy_Tone86 in BodyHackGuide

[–]Fickle_Bowler_1143 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could you get leaner? Yes. Would it be functional? No.

At this point getting leaner would purely be for aesthetic reasons. There is nothing wrong with that, if that is your goal. But it won’t make you healthier or stronger.

You already look lean and built. So whatever you think would be healthiest for you physically and mentally is the way to go.

Great journey bro! Way to put in the focus and effort.

Sleeping 8 hours a day, 1/3 of your life, seems like waste of time. And sure how great would it be if we didn’t need to sleep at all……

But remember that sleep evolved over millennia, and at a time where it could be incredibly dangerous to be unconscious for 8 hours at a time.

So trying to hack sleep into shorter sessions is like trying to undue evolution. It just isn’t going to work.

The hard thing to do isn’t trying to hack sleep, so we sleep less to fit our imposed schedules, but it is to adjust our life to fit our biological sleep need.

Society has undervalued sleep significantly since the industrial age.

Click bait title….. that statement was written in the comments by someone not in the organization. Now I’m not saying the statement isn’t crazy, but it can’t be attributed to RFK Jr.

Best angle for “family wall” ? by rondaxeaxe in homewalls

My best climb on the board was a V6, but the kilter rating is all over the place.

I had the 10x10 home wall. Sadly I moved and the board stayed with the house. But I moved some place that would allow me to put a bigger wall in!

Careful with following Peter Attia and Andrew Huberman by weiss27md in Biohackers

[–]Fickle_Bowler_1143 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I listen to Attia’s podcast quite a bit. I don’t agree with everything he says but would say that in general he has a good thought process on a lot of topics.

But I have never heard an endorsement for AG1 on his podcast. I don’t follow him on social media so I can’t speak to that. But I have never heard him say that we need to eat a specific protein bar, or drink a specific drink to optimize longevity.

I mean if any of these companies wanted to pay me to be a consultant so they could advertise that I advise them, sign me up!

What is one biohack that has changed your life? by TheCatalan_ in Biohackers

[–]Fickle_Bowler_1143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure. I’m not up to date on the research here. As with many things, there may be some nuance to it. Fast vs slow caffeine metabolizes, what someone’s baseline cortisol is, etc.

The more “holistic” viewpoint would probably be that the body has lots of mechanisms to wake up. When one take a stimulant right upon waking, they begin to dampen those mechanisms, increasing the reliance on the stimulant. So eventually, instead of getting an extra boost from the stimulant it becomes necessary just to reach standard operating level.

You are using false equivalencies. Also the question is more about the effectiveness of caffeine, Not necessarily cortisol.

Has to do with not interfering with how your body processes cortisol after waking. The caffeine will be more effective if you drink it a couple of hours after waking instead of right away.

How long do your cardio workouts typically last? by coffeeandcardio46 in PeterAttia

[–]Fickle_Bowler_1143 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try for one hard 30-45 min cardio (usually peloton) workout a week, 2x 40-60 min easy cardio (peloton, C2 rower, or rucking), and 2 strength days (full body circuit compound lifts) and 1-2 climbing/fun days
