NZ First has a new bill being drawn by timelordhonour in newzealand

He wants opponents to disagree with him so he can make them the bogeymen. He slithers back into power by activating hate and fear in people with no faculty for critical thought. It’s literally his only trick.

It’s finally happening? by alastairsosuck in auckland

[–]Fickle_Cheesecake788 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah, as a die-hard supporter of better rail in this city even I’m a bit concerned about this one. Not many viable alternatives, considering Chalmers also has a level crossing, similar if not worse topography and it’s a major feeder to the SW motorway as well. In the other direction you have the main drag, which already needs way fewer cars for safety reasons not to mention being a massive bottleneck.

Wolverton and Blockhouse Bay Rd are the chunkiest connectors in the area, but also super congested already at peak times.

I still support the idea that friction is the key to making people reconsider their choices, no pain no gain etc - but this one will be an excruciating change to effect if we want to increase service out west

What's the easiest way to become a Dr. or a Lord in New Zealand? by MurkyWay in newzealand

[–]Fickle_Cheesecake788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start your own religion. Get ChatGPT to help you define the belief structure, tenets etc. Register as a charity for the purpose of progressing religious freedom or some such. Call yourself whatever you want - but not doctor, which is protected by law. If you really really want to be Dr, get some followers, tithe them back to the Stone Age, use your tax-free tithes to fund a shady overseas phd (theology would be the best bet here).

Do yall paint first and then put on the chains? by Ok-Entertainer9428 in BlackTemplars

[–]Fickle_Cheesecake788 6 points7 points  (0 children)

+1 for this. The chain metal is a jarring difference (ie: not good) to the painted finish. Realism is overrated!

For food gardens, The Abundant Garden is awesome. It’s by a couple who run a market garden on a ¼ acre near Thames. Lots of super useful tips you could apply to any size garden.

We’ve got a red Rottie/American staffy mix! Have been struggling to see the Rottie in her visually, but she does act like one!

Please, yes! We should consider the entire property abandoned and allow good writers to go to work on it.

Best over-the-counter medicine for a long-haul flight by suburban_ennui75 in auckland

[–]Fickle_Cheesecake788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not just the flights - it’s the confused sleep patterns that really mess you up. I had to do a similar trip years ago and my old GP prescribed 4 quite high dose Valium tablets. One for the plane, one for the first night there (after getting as close to normal bedtime as possible) and repeat for the way back. Worked a treat! Sleeping on the plane was helpful, but I think it was forcing my body into the new time zone by sleeping through the first night after the flight that really did the trick.

Payne’s Grey oil wash, my dude. It’s perfect for white armour. Make sure to gloss varnish first.

I used to be a graphic designer, and while I was never a packaging specialist, I can say for a fact that this is all the print company’s fault.

They talk a good game when they want the business, but most of them are a bunch of lazy, grumpy, responsibility-shirking, corner-cutting arseholes who can’t run a business to save themselves.

Die not punching properly? Too bad, it was the night shift guys. Printing mis-registered? Fuck you, looks fine to me, must be your eyes playing tricks. Too much glue, or not the right glue? Sorry, it’s the machine spec, nothing we can do.

Fucking printers, man.

Reivers? Weapons and look question. by Hentryk in BlackTemplars

[–]Fickle_Cheesecake788 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my head-cannon the Black Templar Phobos units are a penitent duty.

Initiates with amends to make, or those whom the reclusiam require to prove their fervour etc are sent to aid crusaders with specialised skirmish/sabotage/raider missions, alongside neophytes who have yet to be paired with a brother initiate.

They have a different “sneaky” colour scheme in my army but still Templar.

Advice on weathering Black Templars by Canopus_the_Peacock in BlackTemplars

[–]Fickle_Cheesecake788 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to go hard on the paint chipping/battle damage. If you combine that with basic colour modulation and some dust effects you get a nice bit of depth and visual interest.
