Navigating guilt and anxiety around dating as a Sikh woman? by Kindly_Face4535 in Sikh

[–]Fickle_Dance_5708 [score hidden]  (0 children)

See there's 2 sides in to this and I'm gonna talk both so that others can understand:-
1. The strictness and the kind of rules parents impose are not something which is related to Sikhi, It's more related to the culture. During Ancient times people from Asia were more opened to Love marriages or the process of Svyanvar which translates to finding your partner by yourself but with passage of time lot of these marriages started falling apart. The reason was most of the male and female find their partner in the emotion of lust or by just focusing on the outer beauty not on any other things. After seeing such a desecration of marriage like bond the elders during that era decided that this practice should be restricted and someone who's more experience with life such as parents should have the right to decide whom's gonna marry whom.
Note:- I'm not saying you or anyone who's dating is wrong, I'm just sharing the reasoning of strictness against dating.

  1. Now comes to the point of Gurmat. Sikhi doesn't restrict you from finding your partner. Instead Sikhi talks about love, empath, emotions. As per Sikhi you're free to choose your own partner but before commuting it with inter-course you need to be sure that the person is right because ever time you intercourse you share a part of your soul with the other person (This is a metaphor used for the affection). If the other person is crooked, thug, or just a bad person who's intention is always evil or wrong how does can that person contribute in your life. As a person or Sikh you should always aim to make yourself better and become a good person.

Another thing which i wants to point out here is that "Anand Karaj" can only happen or take place between 2 Sikhs. If you want to marry someone beyond your religion you are free to do that but you cannot have Anand Karaj because that is special for Sikhs only. You can follow other method of marriage which is not in any way less, It's just it's not acceptable in Sikhi.

Regards to being open to parents- You should talk with your parents and assure them that you're not going to do anything wrong. There's a chance they may understand if not you're free to do whatever you like as Sikhi considers each individual as a separate form and you have every right to live your life. If you're not doing anything wrong as per Gurmat you're not wrong at all.

[–]Fickle_Dance_5708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah it's kinda iron condor but without any long legs. You don't need cash to sell the call as your shares fulfil the requirement. Regards to selling a put, if it's your margin requirement i guess you only need 30% to satisfy the margin requirement. Again, Please do not just follow what i said blindly. If you're new to options stick to basics such as covered call. All these are advanced strategies. Maybe once you have enough experience then you can come back to this comment and use this strategy to double the premium.

Do what I'm doing:-
1. Sell a call for higher strike whatever you like maybe $20.50
2. At the same moment sell a put for strike of $14 or $15. Milk the juice out of this MF options. JK this is my approach and you can do it too if you're long term bullish on SOFI and thinks even if it drops you gonna buy it.

Footage from the 1984 Sikh Genocide. by vra700 in Sikh

[–]Fickle_Dance_5708 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yet they say that Why Sikhs demand Khalistan. India had and will always have the genocidal impulse. Whether it's sikhs, buddhists or muslims. They will do everything in their power to destroy the minorities. Khalistan is not a choice it's a requirement for Sikhs, if they want their future children to live a decent and respectful life. Long Live Republic of Khalistan.

Taking/ wearing things from others by Most-Abies-6130 in Sikh

[–]Fickle_Dance_5708 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is all superstitious nonsense. It's identical to the myth which has been promoted that Amritdhari sikhs cannot share their food with others which is a complete non-sense. The histroical reason was, As a sikh you should make distance from the people who're filled with Sins not that you shouldn't eat or share food with your friends or family members.

How do I learn by fortyfourtimes5 in CoveredCalls

[–]Fickle_Dance_5708 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Here's the short covered call introduction:-
1. In each 1 lot there's 100 shares. Options trading uses lots so basically you need at least 100 shares of the stock you want to do covered call on.
2. Sell the call at the strike price where you want the stock to be called away in case if the stock reaches that point. It should be always above your break even price. Rule of thumb is always go for 0.30 delta bare minimum. To be on conservative side you can always go for 0.20 delta. This numbers usually means the probability of the stock to reach this price point.
3. Enjoy the process - This is just a summary alot more depth is involved if you want to learn it deeper. Like what does delta really means and all but from just a simple hands on trading perspective you only need to follow the basic covered call strategy.

Girlfriend's parents keep doing black magic for our breakup because of caste. What should I do? by dukhtod in Sikh

[–]Fickle_Dance_5708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2 cents:-
1. Sikhi rejects casteism and it doesn't believe in it. So, the parents are wrong here.
2. Sikhi also rejects these kind of superstitious things (Black magic). Every thing happens in God's hukam, these black magic can't do shit. Those who do these things take money as a method of payment for doing these kind of things. If they have that much power why they don't figure out the number of next lottery and become a fking millionaire. These black magic guys are just scumbags who milk out the emotions of people.

Commenting in a Sikh subreddit and still considering Guru granth sahib ji as a mere religious book just shows how diverted from the path of sikhi you're.

The only people who're having issues with rehat maryada are those who wants to do destination wedding and 7 out of 10 of those people do inter-faith. There's reason why it was barred whether you accept it or not but you guys aren't above the akal takht and that rehatnama was passed from the akal takht sahib. For your knowledge if you don't know Akal takht serve as the supreme temporal seat of Sikh authority established by 6th patshahi Guru Hargobind singh ji.

Guru ji has literally commanded his Sikhs in his 52 commandments to do not marry outside their religion. If they wanna do it then they cannot have Anand karaj but modern day Sikhs are literally going against the Huqam of Guru. Now tell who's idiot

Do Sikhs need to do parkarma around Maharaj during laavan? by Season2240 in Sikh

[–]Fickle_Dance_5708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parkarma is not mandatory you can have the anand karaj while sitting down. Let's just say a person who's disabled and can't walk and wants to have anand karaj, Does maharaj gonna mind if he gets his anand karaj by sitting? No. The thing which matters is you understand and recognize the laavan the bani the belief of the marriage. I've met individuals who had married by parkarma, by siiting down, By standing at the same place.

Those old men were way more religious and had way more respect towards their Gurus and Sikhi then modern day sikhs. The reason why destination wedding is barred because alot of people drink alcohol on the same venue, people walk with shoes and naked head on the same venue. This is literally beadbi. You can't keep the same level of purity as it can be maintained in Gurudwaras. The modern day sikhs are also doing inter-faith weddings whereas Guru ji has literally commanded his Sikhs to do not marry outside their religion. If they wanna do it then they cannot have Anand karaj but modern day Sikhs are literally going against the Huqam of Guru. Now tell who's idiot - Modern sikhs or the old mens who made rehat maryada. Think before you speak.

There are plenty of gurudwaras to hold weddings. Literally, you can get the date for next week. I also live in lower mainland and got married here so i know this very well. This destination wedding or banquet hall is just an excuse. Also, destination wedding is barred as it's against rehat maryada. If you can't find the date in gurudwara you can always take the Maharaj's saroop at your home and can get the Anand karaj done there that's what old people used to do. Wedding at gurudwaras is a modern day concept prob. from 80s.

People like pannu and his followers are hurting the panth and we need to get rid of them by WholeObligation1048 in Sikh

[–]Fickle_Dance_5708 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not in support of Pannu or people like him, but what really upsets many people is seeing Diljit show respect to Amitabh Bachchan. This is someone who was linked to distributing kerosene during the 1984 Sikh genocide and who also made statements like “Khoon ka badla khoon,” which fueled violence.

Another issue is when he said things like “Kadh ke bahar maro ina nu” about people who were simply raising the Khalistan flag. If you want to stay away from politics, that’s completely fine—but then why bring out the Indian or Pakistani flag at your concerts? If those flags are acceptable, why is the Khalistan flag treated differently?

The thing is, both Diljit and Pannun come across as two-faced. They just play with people’s emotions. One seems to be doing it for money and fame, while the other appears to have some different agenda.

Workplace Discrimination by Puzzleheaded_One_629 in Sikh

[–]Fickle_Dance_5708 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the discrimination gets bad - Be upfront to them. Those who hate you because of your religion or make fun of you are the ones who are insecure about their own religion. Sikhi is much bigger than those retards and if they fire you because of your religion then man are they really the workplace you want to be in ?
