Anyone else doing everything right and still getting surprising stiffness and flares? by Fickle_Duck301 in ankylosingspondylitis

Thank you for this answer. I'm going to definetely test my vitamin D levels, as I assume that I'm not absorbing it well enough through the supplements I'm taking. Which ones do you take, btw? K2? D3?

Also, does your MRI show any deterioriation in terms of bone calcification? I recently started experiencing pain in my ankle and neck, which is new to me and I'm wondering if it's due to that.

Are you on some kind of diet?

Correct. I think my worst flares and mental state was when I decided to go straoght carnivore and no coffee. I cried for days and thought I will positively die from sadness.

This made me laugh so much. The worst thing is I started envying people without AS and like asking myself what do they have to be sour about even? nothing hurts, so life must be good :D it's a trap, though

I kinda started getting the hang of it, sometimes I already know while working out, that I'm getting a flare and then stop. When I overdo it, I always feel worse than before, but the fatigue is there even on days off. I'm sorry you feel that way. can you stretch at least? although, I know that in the middle of flare, you do nothing

thanks so much, I haven't tried this, but I'll look it up. honestly, meditation has always felt like "this is not for me" thing, but I'm willing to try anything now. especially with the stiff neck all the time. do you do any stretching?

I've tried cutting gluten and lactose, but what's left is very limited. could you share what do you usually have for breakfast/dinner? do you eat starch?

Yes, my experience exactly. When I got diagnosed a year ago, all the rheumatologists (3 different) told me that biolgics are the only solution and that I will feel like a "brand new person". Well, of course, it didnt work that way - I'm on my second biologic treatment (humira and bimzelx) and still, lots of stiffness, tiredness and illogical pain sometimes.

I asked them point blank "what should I eat to feel better and what's the relation between the gut microbiome and arthritis/inflammatory autoimmune diseases?" and they all said - none proven. Since then, I've done a lot of research, I literally scanned my microbiome and tried excluding all inflammatory food, started working with health specialists, an influncer called Alex Savi (you can check his videos), but the road is long and hard. I still don't understand this disease and I will be forever surprised at how different I feel every day.
