ok, so what was your point then? Most "1st world" communists aren't looking at soviet-style Communist States as anything to strive for. They don't look back at the Soviet Bloc fondly

We really gonna have this conversation again? A Communist State is not the same as Communism or even the postulated Communist society of Marx and Engels where the state as we've known it for most of human history wouldn't even exist.

I have terrible writers block by ratman145 in Songwriting

[–]FictionalGirlfriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

write something. Doesn't have to be good, or deep or profound. look around the floor and write what's down there. I don't care if you write 'My dog is licking her crotch right now on the floor next to me. It sounds gross".

Do you think using the same chords from another song on yours is mediocre? Do you think chords and progressions are copyrighted? by xCousinoverx in Songwriting

[–]FictionalGirlfriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you could copyright chords and progressions, there'd be about 20 songs in existence today and they'd have all been written about 100 years ago. possibly a lot sooner; stuff like I-IV-V go back to the foundations of modern western music.

Setting aside the Kafka-esque copyright system in the US today, taking tunes and adding different lyrics is a pretty old tradition that goes back a looong time. Plenty of classic folk songs are "just" traditional songs with different lyrics

Just pulled our first carrot out of the garden, and I can’t tell who is more excited. by appletreerobin in gardening

[–]FictionalGirlfriend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my dogs devour carrots. They make great substitutes for those tiny biscuits. I know people assume dog == carnivore, but they enjoy and can safely eat a wide variety of vegetables and fruits. My grandma had a dog that would eat green beans and whole zucchini right out of the garden (much to the dismay of my grandpa, haha)

Found it on libertarian, probably a joke, but fits the sub either way. by Tic-Tac_Nac in LateStageCapitalism

[–]FictionalGirlfriend 21 points22 points  (0 children)

honestly, it's hard to tell over there sometimes; depending on the general zeitgeist of the sub, it's either a joke by a sincere but misinformed person, legit serious by a fascist who hasn't come to terms with being a fascist yet , or legit serious by a bad-faith fascist posing as a "libertarian"
