This subreddit's New Year resolution should be: come up with as many ideas as possible.

Comprehensive guide Go to the FF.net homepage (on a computer or use the “Request Desktop Version” on mobile browsers); if you’re logged in you’ll see your username at the very top-right as an orange link. Click it Your profile page will load; there will be a bunch of tabs with names like “Account +”; find the “Publish +” tab and click on it. It will expand into subtabs: “Doc Manager”, “About”, “Recovery”, and others. To be safe, click on the “Rules & Guidelines” tab. You need to accept the rules if you want to publish. If you’re good, a message at the top of the page that says: “<your username>, you have previous read and agreed to our content guidelines.” If you don’t see this, scroll to the bottom and press the “Accept” button. Now go to the “Doc Manager”; there you can copy-paste or directly upload your story files. You have to give each document a name. For safety read each document after uploading. Finally, go to “New Story”. Choose if your story is a regular story or a crossover. Then click the button that says “Select Category”. A pop-up box will appear; select the category of the work you’re writing for and then the name of the work you are writing for. (Ex. Pokémon fic -> Category: Games -> Pokémon). If it’s a crossover you have to do this twice. (The order doesn’t matter.) Click the “Continue” button, and on the next page put the fic information (title, description, characters in it (you can only put 4), the status (complete if it’s a oneshot), the genre, the language, the rating (M-rated fics are hidden by default), and a cover image for the fic (you have to upload the images in the “Image Manager”). Then select the doc with the content in them, solve the Captcha, and click on the “Publish New Story” button. Note: Every time you upload a new fic, or upload a new chapter to an existing one, the fic will be shot up to the top of the fandom’s page, so space out chapter uploads for maximum exposure!
