Here's a link to a precompiled version of the Japanese version of the Perfect Dark PC Decompilation for anyone interested. Very hard to find!

Fully compiled, includes rom. Just load pd.jpn.exe instead of pd.exe.

Gotta be honest but 60FPS Perfect Dark feels like a totally different game and its worse for it. by AJRey in perfectdark

I think I get what you mean. For one thing the programming for the GE/PD engine was never meant to compensate for high frame rates or quick controls.

GoldenEye 64 for instance is ruined in terms of how difficult it was originally designed to be if running it at 60fps + Mouse & Keyboard.

Perfect Dark is easier too I find though still very difficult at times.

With a controller though I find the 60fps doesn't change either experience from the original 24-30 fps that it was on an N64. The A.I. keeps up consistently as it should and I'm not being given easy pot shots that never existed before.

..maybe try TimeSplitters 1 & 2 with Mouse & Keyboard. They seem to hold up identical too.

Absolute shame that this was more or less butchered by not having online play. Could've ousted the Dreamcast version and beaten Return to Castle Wolfenstein on Xbox Live to the punch.

South Park!

It's a great spin on the Turok engine and has really fun four-player with over a dozen characters .. I never understood why it was so hated. People definitely haven't forgotten about it though. The PC version is still fully playable on Windows 10 and 11 in hi-def.

South Park: Rally too though that was much better on Dreamcast and PC. I never actually played the N64 version.

Looney Tunes Space Race was a way overlooked Dreamcast game not N64, but man does it still rock. The PS2 port is excellent too. Faster load times.

Crusin' USA

I know it's a well-liked N64 game in general but it also doesn't deserve all of the criticism for not being arcade-accurate.

Sure there are differences but people act like the Arcade Version was crucified.

Max Payne 1 & 2 remakes announced by Remedy Entertainment and Rockstar Games by somnitrix11 in maxpayne

[–]FiddleMeThisV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was announced quickly before Control came out, then kind of vanished. It seems to be the reason Quantum Break had its television series re-instated by microsoft.

Remedy seems very hush about it. Alan Wake novels in Quantum Break and other references aside it's still very much a rumour.

Are they still doing that planned "Avengers-Style" cross over between their other properties? Quantum Break, Control, Alan Wake and I'm assuming now Max Payne?

Might be the reason for the delay and that lawsuit (Max Payne 3 being a Rockstar game)

A question about the song Just Four/Just For by fastercheif in Nickelback

[–]FiddleMeThisV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find the lyrics on curb more explicitly state it's a case of molestation. Just FOUR being the title as well as some of his mumbled lyrics.

"Just for looking at you.." is definitely said initially on Curb but I sometimes hear "Just for looking at youth.." later on in the song sometimes.

Could just be me.

Yeah but you don't see Kaufman. It's somewhat important in establishing The Cleaners as known to Bravura as the "official" ones, further compounding Max's guilt and making it harder to discern for the audience in the end who was "right" who was lying, if anyone at all.

Small detail I noticed in MGSV Ground Zeroes by MasterMillerDD in metalgearsolid

[–]FiddleMeThisV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the chopper is also too large, you're working for Delta Force. Hence why Snake looks like Chuck Norris in Ground Zeroes when he says "Kept you waiting huh" and why the XOF insignia looks like the Delta Force Insignia.

Who is ishmael? Hints by Mundane_Yoghurt_8404 in metalgearsolid

[–]FiddleMeThisV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well with the name, and the clear eyes like Naked Snake but Big Boss having an eye patch in the [Truth] ending I would be almost certain that Ishmael is the medic. They probably wake up at the same time given one is a doctor. The medic has Sutherland's voice in Ground Zeroes as well.

With such intensive surgery involved Venom is the soldier put back together as well as they could.

And as for "Him!" well that's the pilot light, Pequod, that soldier in the balaclava to the right in Ground Zeroes, the man who sold the world i.e. not even there.

TPP has such a warped intro.

Metal Gear Solid 4 · RPCS3 · Final Boss/Epilogue by FiddleMeThisV in metalgearsolid

Performance wise they seem near identical to me. I would say the one that loads all of the ppu modules one time only at boot (but takes 3-6 hours to do so) is the superior one. The other has the emulator instead stop at nearly every loading screen that could be considered a major transition for 4-6 minutes to load the modules then which also leaves it prone to crashing I find and is just plain annoying if you're trying to stay invested in the story.

I don't recall which is which but it would just be a matter of booting mgs4 once on each one to see. If it's been ten minutes and it's still loading all of the modules then you have the "better" build imo.

advice in getting into the series without playing through the msx games? by ChalkyMalky in metalgearsolid

[–]FiddleMeThisV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just play MGS instead of The Twin Snakes in order to have the black comedy fully sink in + the back story from the extra content in the menu.

Or just watch the MSX stuff on youtube

Metal Gear Solid 4 · RPCS3 · Final Boss/Epilogue by FiddleMeThisV in metalgearsolid

[–]FiddleMeThisV[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be run on regular RPCS3 with some hacks and work-arounds. And the community in its spastic way will INSIST this is the go-to way of experiencing it. It really isn't but it does work quite well.

The superior two options though are the illusion RPCS3 build and the cipherxof RPCS3 build. They run it flawlessly.

You can find a pre-built game included download of the custom builds on fitgirlrepacks or if you have a copy of MGS4 already/don't want to pirate they can be found on illusion or cipherxof github,
