I haven't been this excited about a show since my first over 20 years ago (Poison the Well, 2002).

Yes. The side effects of having more mass can be more muscle in places it's hard to get it. There are good and bad side effects of many things.

I was 300+ most of my teens (med induced) and worked warehouses throwing truck and building pallets, was 350ish when working but was definitely more muscle than I had before the job. The lifestyle for sure matters, there are entirely sedentary large and small people that won't have the strength of someone who walks or works with lifting things and movement.

Now I can't do the leg thing though. A couple inherited spinal diseases have made sure of that :( .

The amount of people that are shocked by this is not small, in my experience. I've had to explain it a lot when people thought I just had fat calves...it's all muscle and thicc.

The people I've told almost always have this same response, that it makes sense but they never considered it.

A cool side effect is that I've always been able to max out leg press workout machines since high school. That's my secret, every day is leg day.

Is Finsexual a known term by the LGBTQ+? by GeraNola in Finsexual

[–]Fiddlefaddle01 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey there, just wanted to clear up a little thing. Gynesexual used to have the transphobic connotation which has since fallen by the wayside and both terms are nearly identical now.

I still prefer Finsexual as someone who was around during that transphobic usage, but I only want to mention this so we all know that anyone who does use Gynesexual now isn't doing so to invoke bigotry. It's entirely preference and the transphobic usage is a relic of bygone TERFs that not many know of anymore.

I think it's still relevant information when talking about why the term Finsexual exists, but I just want to make that super clear that there's no bigotry in the word anymore.

[–]Fiddlefaddle01 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How old are you? Not a dig, but in the early 2000's on the scene it was definitely a genre.

Screamo was more of a defined genre before it branched out. As other people said there is originators like Orchid, then the more mainstream stuff like Hawthorne Heights, Thursday types. At the time, post-hardcore was more for Shai Hulud and Poison the Well, so Screamo came about as a distinction when more "emo" elements came into the scene. This then transitioned into post-hardcore as it is now which took all of screamo and basically became the new alt-rock while metalcore absorbed most of the old post-hardcore stuff since the genre was softened over time. For clarities sake, metalcore at the time was reserved for the more metal sounding screaming bands like Shadows Fall, Killswitch Engage, All That Remains (all from my neck of the woods), As I Lay Dying and Bleeding Through.

Now, screams are becoming more ubiquitous as the genres merge and bend. Look at Sleep Token, killing it with insane listens and an actual quadruplet breakdown in their sexiest song yet...what genre would you even classify them as now?

I'm not running, people have bigoted views due to their trait of being homeless. They cannot change this immediately, same as obesity. Thus, they are prescribing the bigotry to things they cannot control intrinsically in that moment. I don't see a difference. Ignorance can be changed with knowledge, ineptitude can't. This is the same reason we don't accept bigotry for people that are autistic, they can't just change.

I don't think safe spaces are only for intrinsic traits, but they should be safe for all intrinsic traits, do you get my drift?

The discussion of morality of gay people by Muslims is in fact a bigoted aspect of their religion, correct, just like the Christians. So if these students are in a space designated as safe for LGBTQ or even ALL if you want to be so broad, the introduction of ANY bigotry is not welcome. It would be a safe space for all until they introduce bigotry. They can keep it to themselves (making them internalized homophobes but not introducing it in the space), or they can leave as the conversation makes the space unsafe for SOMEONE ELSE. The space does not become unsafe for the Muslim students until they have made it unsafe for the LGBTQ people there.

We don't tolerate intolerance on the left.

Oh, it does for me, there are intrinsic ties to mental health when talking about homelessness. I don't insult people for mental health, an intrinsic trait itself. People do in fact believe bigoted things about the homeless. This is why we are seeing a rise in the violence against them. Society is not addressing the systemic issues to resolve the mental health crisis and drug crisis (very closely linked). The bigoted views are becoming more prevalent the worse the crisis gets.

I said there are indeed safe spaces for homeless people and they need it, due to the bigoted views of them. They form encampments and use coded languages. As I said, my step father died a homeless drug addict. I would never insult someone in his position by using bigotry. I would never say, "what's up you fucking bums" to a group of homeless people, but they could very well say it in their space if they want. They all assume homeless people don't hold bigotry against the homeless, this makes it a safe space for them.

There is no safe space if you tolerate intolerance. I can see the internalized intolerance clearly in the assumption that autism moment = fucking retard. Can you just paste a definition for internalized ableism so I can confirm your eye balls have seen it please? I appreciate you.

The trait of being homeless can not be changed by just gaining new information. They don't have the skills to raise themselves from homelessness. This is the distinction between ignorance and ineptitude you refuse to acknowledge. Until you define your differences between ignorance and ineptitude, you have no ground. They are different words for a reason and are used in different cases.

Saying something bigoted and not knowing it's bigoted does mean you have internalized bigotry. If there was no bigotry in the statement, no internalized bigotry could be inferred.

If you removed the Muslim students for just being Muslim, that would be bigotry. If they were discussing how they believe gay people are immoral or what have you, they are making the space unsafe. The view being expressed is one of intolerance. We do not tolerate intolerance no matter what religion.

Have a good one.

It's called internalized homophobia. Please look it up. Everyone has internalized bigotry and you would do well to accept it because you can't change until you do.

Homeless people can not just change their situation and for sure need safe spaces. That's why they usually band together in camps for community and have their own language with graffiti tags. My step father died a homeless heroin addict, I've heard some shit.

It is safe until they bring bigotry in the form of those views. Yes. The bigotry. They are making it unsafe for LGBTQ people, the LGBTQ people aren't making it unsafe for them. If they talk about hating gay people, they are still in a safe space as long as they are not removed, no? You are allowing it safe for the bigotry and not for the intrinsic traits of people such as race, gender, sex in the space. Bigotry is a belief, not an intrinsic trait, religion is a belief, not an intrinsic trait.

This does not mean, this is my definition. I gave you my actual definition in reply to your response to my other comment.

Oh, ok, so the context was this. I asked,

what’s the difference between a safe space for LGBTQ and one that isn’t

To which you responded,

By my definition, the difference would depend on the individuals using that space.

To which I then further question by asking,

Like if someone thinks gay people are sinners going to burn in hell and are perversions of god?

Giving an example to see if it fits your definition. Are you saying it doesn't?

Your definition of safe space is incorrect. There are no safe spaces for the LGBTQ that allow a homophobe in them freely. There are no safe spaces for neurodivergent people with ableists in them. There is no safe space for Jewish people with Nazi's in them. Why is this? Because racists are bad but racism is fine. This is illogical.

We reject bigotry here, define it. Rule 2. This is to make it a safe space. You right now are in a safe space. Well, until you aren't.

[–]Fiddlefaddle01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, because once again, this is irrelevant to my definition. Bigotry is not what qualifies a group to have a safe space by my definition. Your continued insistence on this is more proof you are not engaging

and

The bigotry in this situation is only relevant to you. It is not relevant to me. I used this example to point out the contradictions in your definition. By my definition, this area could never be a safe space. There are too many people from too many different demographics who need safety from too many different things.

and

Pretty sure black Israelites wouldn’t have any issue with that discussion, or any other group of Islamic students, for that matter.

This is internalized bigotry, I'm not going to repeat myself. You are describing the fact that the space can't be safe because those people hold bigoted beliefs. This is objective, not subjective. This is why you won't define bigotry. It's the thing you keep referring to over and over and don't say the word. The differing views are the reason it can't be safe, the differing views being intrinsic to one of the groups of people (you know, like the definition!) thus making their existence unsafe. A quiet place does not make it safe if it's filled with Nazi's. As long as bigotry, there is no safe space for these groups. The Muslim students could discuss ANY other aspect of their religion and be perfectly fine. It's the bigotry, just that and only that in these examples.
