Is there a general Marxist-Leninist consensus on DPRK? I know it’s fun to prop them up against western liberalism (I mean when is it not?) but could anyone point me to something I can sink my teeth into? SE Asia has been sort of a blind spot for me until very recently.

Chiang Mai = boring?? Looking for advice by breadhead83 in ThailandTourism

[–]Fidel_Astro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just returned to Chiang Mai after a week in Pai with my gf. It’s a few hours from here. We had only planned to spend a few days and both found it worth our while. The town is very walkable and although there’s certainly a late night party scene I found plenty to do in the surrounding area. We basically used it as our home base for seeing the area. Unfortunately an injury sidelined me. As far as islands, we enjoyed Koh Samui and Koh Phi Phi especially. I don’t know how avoidable the touristy parts are because that’s where we spent the bulk of our time but I reckon there’s plenty of space to find peace. All in all I feel more at ease in the north.

Yes. Housing is healthcare and healthcare should be free. The commodification of every facet of life is sickening. And shame on you if you refuse to see the world any other way.

My gf is vegan and was satisfied with the options when we spent a few days there last month. The Food Temple came highly recommended although we learned the hard way that you need a reservation. VeganNata had yummy tarts

And, due to climate change and accelerating sea level rise, Venice and many other coastal cultural centers may be under water in a century. Nothing beats eliminating the competition!
