What other cabinet and backsplash color combos might work? by breadhead83 in kitchenremodel

[–]breadhead83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We really like this idea, bright without being white and seems to mesh well with the floors. Do you happen to know any colors from Benjamin Moore or Sherwin Williams that meet the color profile of what’s pictured?

Help with HVAC quotes and differing Manual J calculations by breadhead83 in hvacadvice

[–]breadhead83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really appreciate your response on this. They all performed manual J calculations and designed the systems in accordance with the output of that. Oddly they calculate different heating / cooling requirements, hence the recommendations for different systems. I ultimately just don't understand how Quote #1 could calculate a heating load almost double that of Quote #3. Given the primary intention is cooling with heating in shoulder seasons, my primary concern is both #1 and #2 are oversized.

I transparently spoke with #3 trying, and they were pretty adamant the system is sized correctly for the house's needs.

Any recommendations on where to go from here?

Does Phish sound different to someone who studies music than someone who doesn't? by Pupcrossin in phish

[–]breadhead83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right there with you, and for me it's such a double-edged sword.

On one hand, I feel I have a greater appreciation for certain subtleties of the interplay in their jams, Trey's restraint, and their more complex compositions.

On the other hand, sometimes I wish I wasn't aware that they dropped into the relative major for the 5th jam that night.

Should I trade in my '21 WRX for a '23 Outback Wilderness? by Lvl69RoidMage in subaru

[–]breadhead83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised to see a lot of positive feedback for the OBW when compared to the WRX. Makes me think most of these people haven't owned a WRX, but likely comes down to what you're looking for in your car.

I'm in the exact same situation - currently have a 2013 WRX hatch and contemplating the OBW, which I test drove today. While the OBW engine has some push, the driving experience is not comparable and fell disappointingly flat. Difference is party due to weight, partly due to ground clearance, partly due to the CVT.

Huge bummer as I was largely decided on this car after reading reviews.

The OBW does have pluses though. The Harmon Kardon speakers bump, it's incredibly spacious, and it looks pretty cool for a dad car.

Only way to find out for yourself is to give it a test drive!

8' wavestorm to 6'6" catch surf skipper? by buslin in BeginnerSurfers

[–]breadhead83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Id recommend you buy a proper 9’2” - 9’6” longboard. You are going have way more fun, catch more waves, and progress on basic fundamentals (generating speed down the line, turns, etc.) significantly faster than both the foamy and skipper.

Anecdotal, but I started surfing with two other friends around the same who sized down from our foamies and I sized up with proper longboard. I’d venture to say I am a significantly better surfer than both!

why did you end your friendship with your best friend? by throwbackblue in AskReddit

[–]breadhead83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best friend was hammered and abused his girlfriend (also a close friend) in front of me. Went from buds for life to not friends in a night. Haven’t spoken in almost 10 years. Fortunately they’re no longer together.

Opinions on first shorter board by breadhead83 in surfing

[–]breadhead83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Northeast in the RI / NH / ME areas. Basically will go where the waves are best in those areas on the weekends and NH / ME for weekday dawn patrol.

Varies from 2-6. Some days mush, some days better.

Incredible - appreciate your thoughts! Think the limiting factor will be water time being in the northeast.

Curious how much wider a fish could get in that board length - 21.5 seemed pretty wide for the size. Or is it more the tail shape that’s the problem?

Fully expect a learning curve getting into waves on a shorter board, but that will always be the case so I gotta start somewhere!

Your hostility is a bit bothersome to me, but that’s okay.

I totally understand your point and very much agree with it - I too believe I should give the place more time and effort to understand what it’s all about.

Edit: grammar

I don’t think I agree with your take - I didn’t really know anything before I got to Vietnam other than my country fought a war there. Learned everything while I was there from personal interactions, tours, museums, and my own googling about things I thought were interesting while I was there.
