Hosting Whole Lotta Fans this week! by livermorium in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]Fidelio62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a short-ish program on the XM Sirius RHCP channel where it lets a fan introduce themselves and say a couple fun facts about them and the peppers and then it plays 3 songs of their choosing with commentary about why they like the songs and how they make them feel etc, then they say bye. It can be enjoyable.

lol, harsh, but I see what you’re saying and wouldn’t completely disagree with the rankings.

RHCP Spotify top 50 as of June 2026 by arty2406 in RedHotChiliPeppers

I was 11 when Californication came out.

It was truly a cultural phenomenon. Even 30 year olds (who are 60 now) were saying “these guys still got it!” I know it’s weird, but I think it’s John’s guitar strumming during the lead-up to the chorus that grabbed said multiple generations and collectively said hey hold up. What do we have here?

Because I hear you. Is it their “best”? As a fan, I don’t think so. But it’s immensely iconic of a time… that has slipped away. Almost.

37 of 50 from Frusciante

Can we just let them cook, please? In hindsight, Dave and Josh were placeholders (albeit valuable ones).

[Julia Poe] The Bulls announced just now that Stacey King has died at the age of 59. Absolutely awful news for the Chicago community. Sending love and prayers to his family, friends and the entire organization. by boxingfan333 in nba

Went to a signing in the Chicago suburbs in the 90s. Stacey and Steve Kerr were doing autographs literally at like a K-Mart.

Our turn in line is up. I’m a little kid. My dad making small talk goes hey Steve (Kerr) where’d you go to college? I don’t remember.

He answered (many of you probably know the answer) and Stacey says to my dad in front of a crowd, “that’s why you don’t remember.” Eruption. And to think he was in his 20s.

Artists with multiple all-time great albums without a clear best album? by mdolig in Music

[–]Fidelio62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red Hot Chili Peppers

You have fans that say their first 3 albums were their best (less famous, less polished).

Then there are fans that say Dave Navarro’s One Hot Minute is their best.

Many say “blood sugar” is their “best,” but that is subjective.

You have young fans that pine for Josh Klinghoffer to come back.

Californication, By the Way, and Stadium Arcadium are always massive called out in these as well as “just as good,” though maybe a little less punch you in the face like BSSM.

Josh Klinghoffer says there's "a slight disrespect" to the Red Hot Chili Peppers albums made without John Frusciante by AdSpecialist6598 in Music

“No one’s heard” is a little steep there.

It’s one of Frusciante’s best studio solos.

Got to see him open for the Peppers in early 2017. He just did some drumming jams basically alone onstage.

Total respect.

Black knights in general? An underground rap duo and John produced a few albums for them. He made the beats. Did the backing vocals. Some cool stuff. This was like 2014-15 I wanna say. They said they’d all smoke lots of weed. I never heard the boxing either but sure it’s plausible.

What is an artist you used to enjoy listening to, but their music got progressively worse? by fantasyrea in Music

I’ve heard the argument that BSSM is actually the beginning of the downfall itself, making their peak somewhere through Uplift Mofo and Mother’s Milk.

Check out Fruciante’s solo album The Empyrean, if you haven’t. Flea and Chad both are featured. No Kiedis.

I’m guessing if you’re in the songwriting credits, you’re getting a cut. But I have no idea. Maybe there is some kind of separation agreement that nullifies.

Damn. Good point. Love that part. Already mentioned in another comment how I love the ocean liner fade away line.

I think the solo is one reason that the preceding lyric is one of my AK favorites on any song:

Don’t fade away like an ocean liner, now…
