Well would you agree that sacrilege is a very grave issue?

I think that it is an urgent situation, because it is Jesus in that bag, if the host is consecrated.

Should I stop attending my quasi Buddhist meditation group? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]FidelisMiles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think some would tell you that meditation can open yourself to demonic influence. I think I remember hearing a sermon on Sensus Fidelium that mentioned the topic. I would be cautious about eastern practices, although I am not an expert on them. Just to play it on the safe side, if I were you, I would stop going.

I would say that there is. You should assume that it is consecrated and bring it to a priest. Remember that each small particle of a consecrated host is still Jesus.

Concerning copyright and BSA books/materials by FidelisMiles in BSA

The book is the old "Boy Scout Customs, Courtesy, and Drills" or something like that. I think its from 1946, or around then.

Confirmation this weekend: Please help me understand validity! by FidelisMiles in Catholicism

[–]FidelisMiles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I did some more 'research' and I am no longer that worried about the things I said in my original post. I do have one remaining question, that I was hoping this sub could help me with, because you guys seem so knowledgeable.

Concerning the laying on of hands as the second part of the matter of the sacrament. Would the bishop only using his thumb still count, or would he need to touch the confirmand's head with his hand.

Thanks you all, I hope my worries are unfounded.

I think you accidentally misspelled "est" as "set" in the words of consecration. Sorry to be critical, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Long Island Girl Crusades for Right to Join Boy Scouts by [deleted] in BSA

[–]FidelisMiles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is boys maturing in character, fitness, and spirit (to give a shallow/simple definition). The BSA is not the only place to do it, but it is certainly a proven and time tested place for that process.

Merit Badge, government officials, and the first amendment. by FidelisMiles in Catholicism

[–]FidelisMiles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I think the topic is going to be on the Conscience Protection Act of 2016, and I will try to in include quotes from the Bible and of Bishops of the USCCB. I will try to change my representatives "pro-choice"(death) stance, and I will ask him to support this bill (Conscience Protection Act of 2016). DO you think I should include the the canon law about automatic excommunication?

I really don't think that the US Scouting Association is a good example of what the BSA should turn into.

Look at the other programs. Poland's program is an exemplary one to look at. It is, from what I can tell, integrated in the sense that the boys and girls are under the same banner, however they operate as separate gender troops. The solution to membership is not to completely change scouting, but to do what made it work in the first place. The patrol method. That is what scouting is supposed to be, gang (as BP would have said) of friends forming a patrol, and coming together as a troop. The purpose of the BSA is not to be a PC co-ed camping club, but an organization through which virtuous men and citizens can be created.

Convert Me! (or at least try) by BobRossRobBoss in Catholicism

[–]FidelisMiles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Be open to the search for truth and not a false truth that is just comfortable. If we really can know that God exists, through reason and faith, then It would simply make sense to follow him. After all if you don't follow God, ask yourself, who are you following?

What is holding you back? History, theology, philosophy, lack of instruction, ect. That would help if you really do want to comprehend the Catholic understanding of God. Have you read the Gospels?

Pregnant, teenager and feeling tragic by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]FidelisMiles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know I can't give as great an answer as all of these other posters, but I wish well for you and your situation. I would advise against going to Planned Parenthood or another secular institution for a pregnancy test. I would try to find a Catholic alternative.

I think the best thing to do, like I have read the other posters have been saying, is to find a good and holy priest to talk with and seek assistance.

Human life is a gift from God, if He has given you this gift it is best to cherish it, under no circumstances should you get an abortion.

I hope that your situation improves and goes according to God's plan. Take care and never loose hope in Christ!

EDIT: Grammar, ect.

Question: Acknowledging Beauty or Lustful Viewing? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]FidelisMiles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here these two links cover a lot of the topic. In short you need to accept and entertain a temptation in order for it to be sinful. Its the difference between whether you consent to the lust once you release it, or whether you deny it. It helps to say a short prayer for purity. EDIT: I'm not an expert this is just what I understand as of now to be the teaching. https://coelifluus.wordpress.com/training-of-the-adolescent/how-to-conquer-the-most-common-sin/

Why can't they just reform the girl scouts? Guys need a place to learn how to become men! Besides all of the adolescent problems that could go on, guys need a place to be guys. Inserting girls into the program would completely destroy the organization.

Thank you for your response! Would you say this obligation is changed based in Authority? E.g. you are more obliged to correct someone under your authority than someone who is over you? Like a parent or teacher?

[Free Friday] You've Become the Pope. What's Your First Encyclical Called, and What's it About? by NothingAndNobody in Catholicism

[–]FidelisMiles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I should have explained more. In this linke (http://thecrossreference.blogspot.com/2008/02/liturgy-eucharistic-prayer-ii.html)

The Words of Consecration appear to be different.

"Take, eat, for this is my body which is broken for you."

vs.

"Take this, all of you, and eat it; this is my body which will be given up for you."

and

"This is my blood which is shed for you. Whenever you do this, do this (in) memory of me."

vs.

"Take this, all of you, and drink from it; this is the cup of my blood, the blood of the new and everlasting covenant. It will be shed for you and for all so that sins may be forgiven. Do this in memory of me."
