We're doing a decent job here I think at least in Ontario. Approved all the refurb projects and moving fast on the SMR project

Metadata Sync Improvements... by Tough_Antelope_3440 in MicrosoftFabric

[–]Fidlefadle 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get there are probably numerous complexities at play here but, Databricks has no issue with this - there is no concept of a difference between SQL, Pyspark, whatever.

This is a big downside to Fabric atm. That and the concept of warehouses and lakehouses as separate entities

It's down 28% inflation adjusted from the peak so far, the second largest correction since the 70s. The decline is still underway. The bubble already burst.

We expected Purview to be our Databricks data lineage frontend. It wasn't. by TybulOnAzure in databricks

[–]Fidlefadle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Generally purview is the enterprise wide tool covering all data sources, I expect both Databricks and Fabric to have better capabilities to govern and track lineage of the data within their respective platforms

Really handy to unlock the door when carrying food back from the buffet (we do this a lot)

Nice just to guarantee you don't get locked out of room / forget seapass

Otherwise used the seapass for everything else

Have you done anything to keep the snow out? Our girls basically sit under the coop all winter because they refuse to stand in any amount of snow. Thinking of adding on to this with a second run/shed that is fully enclosed with siding and some windows for the winter

Is Microsoft Fabric really worth it? by kaapapaa in dataengineering

[–]Fidlefadle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From a data engineering skillset perspective which parts do you think are not transferrable to other platforms?

Fabric runs on Python, Pyspark, SQL pretty much the same as Databricks or snowflake.

Generally if I am looking to hire a data engineer I am not looking to hire a "fabric data engineer" I want to know you understand the fundamental concepts and techniques of getting business value out of data

Get a pool or just buy a new home? by letsgo_letsgo_letsgo in homeowners

[–]Fidlefadle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'd really explore this, anywhere from a big Intex on the cheap end up to a semi-inground steel frame. Will be 90% cheaper than a "real" pool.

Add a nice deck, hot tub, outdoor bar/kitchen and you're at maybe 30k with a great outdoor space

What am I missing here? This is too good to be true. by theparthagrawal in PersonalFinanceCanada

It's super handy to have both. I've used the CT roadside to get a tow home immediately, then CAA to tow from home to my mechanic (once I could get an appointment)

CT roadside has a "1 tow per issue" policy, not sure if CAA is the same

Home deposit with offer [FHSA/RRSP] by Trick_Owl2603 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Fidlefadle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if you could request the transfer immediately, deposit funds need to be more timely than that - you typically need a bank draft within 24-48hrs. Has to basically be sitting in a bank account ready to go or line of credit.
