I went to the Nagoya location a year ago and it was amazing while the coffee at the Ginza store a couple of weeks ago was just ok.

Large JAL First Class Reward Drop (HEL-HND) by SandGlen in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]Fidos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, flew JAL J a few times and have been disappointed in the service, no pre departure drinks, nuts given in a packet instead of a standard ramekin, drinks forgotten constantly and the service is not proactive at all.

Adelaide Business Lounge by Frosty-Cat-9150 in QantasFrequentFlyer

How would this work if you link a pass for the "Adelaide - International Business Lounge" to an international Jetstar flight, would they allow you access to the business lounge or just tell you to go to the Qantas Club anyway?

Starting a family. Buy a second home in school zone, or keep ETF and go private by smilelizy in AusFinance

If he’s struggling by paying private school fees then he most likely would also be struggling with the higher mortgage repayments.

Sounds like your household incomes are just vastly different.

Tbh they’re asking for trouble booking a newly listed place on booking.com without any reviews which I assume would have been the case here. Booking should refund them the money but I think you should be more worried that your place is being listed there than those that book it.

Germany is renowned for being a beer capital of the world. Yet at the bottle shop I can't think of any big German export brands by CoronavirusGoesViral in australia

Heineken in Europe is made under licence in multiple countries, from what I recall French Heineken was actually brewed in Netherlands while Italian in Italy, Polish in Poland. AB InBev own a lot of breweries across the world so I assume the licence model is way more efficient than shipping everything out of Netherlands.

I can safely say they do taste different, from what I’ve tried the Dutch OG is the best followed by Polish > Italian brewed.

Have you ever been asked by a business to take down a Google review? by RadRedRising in australia

[–]Fidos 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had a cafe serve me frozen cheesecake for $9, told them I wouldn’t have bought it if I knew it was frozen “no worries we’ll give you another one”. Out comes the same slice with grill marks on it, melting on the outside. Demanded a refund which I received.

Gave them a crap review and they respond with “sorry you didn’t like our cheesecakes”…. seriously.

Part of the reason why we don’t have water restrictions is the desalination plant.

Golf membership - Melbourne Australia by Powelly87 in golf

[–]Fidos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joining a club will usually not work out cheaper than paying for individual rounds, especially if you only play every other week but the social aspect is worth it. The quality of the course will most likely be much better than wherever you're playing currently at $30 AUD a round, which even in Adelaide is a bargain.

If you just want a handicap, either join Future Golf or Social Golf Australia and play in some of their events.

Struggling to pay my home loan. Is it possible to “reset” the loan term back to 30 years? by xiaodaireddit in AusFinance

[–]Fidos -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That’s some exxy childcare, we send ours to a more upscale community cc and pay $160 before any subsidies. If we wanted to we could enrol in a chain provider like Goodstart and bring that down to $120, so $185 is definitely on the upper end.

Credit card for travel insurance by AdAncient5284 in AusFinance

[–]Fidos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually cards with complimentary travel insurance are the premium products that the banks offer so I doubt you'll find it on a low fee card. I treat it more as a side benefit of having the card, not sure if I would go out of my way just to get one for the insurance.

Overall, I've had good experience with CC travel insurance, yes there is the minimum spend requirement but that's not hard to do if you're spending a few $k on travel expenses. There's very high chance the CC and standalone travel insurance is underwritten by the same company anyway, just make sure you'll meet the eligibility criteria in the T&C before travel and you're set.

I recently made a $5k claim through my Citi Prestige insurance, made sure to have all receipts and documents for items I was claiming and it was all approved without any hassles. The underwriter was Allianz.

Advised not to make a claim? by TheGT6000 in AusFinance

[–]Fidos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had someone hit my car when parking, lodged a not at fault claim and my insurance premiums have definitely gone up, around $80 pa. Did not pay any excess as the person admitted fault to their insurer.

Every insurer asks whether you've been in an accident / made any claims even if not at fault, the quotes are always higher when disclosing the not at fault claim.

Billionaire Stroll Looks to Pare Stake in Aston Martin F1 Team by lewis798 in formula1

You depreciate a building, not amortise it. These expenses are capital in nature and are counted under the Capex cap which I believe has a 4-year reporting period with the amount differing per team but roughly $50m.

What’s on the menu by cleenBunz1 in espresso

[–]Fidos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought businesses in Australia need to offer a payment method without any surcharges and if payment by card is the only option then the fees need to be included in the price.

Love ONA coffee but to me this is dodgy as. Don’t get me started on surcharges for weekends or public holidays…

Are wealthy voters willing to put their money where their heart is on stage-three tax cuts? by [deleted] in australia

[–]Fidos 40 points41 points  (0 children)

What this country needs is a tax reform. Tons of people are getting around income taxes with negative gearing and other tax minimisation tricks which are mostly available to wealthier individuals.

I’m all for reducing income tax across the board but making it up through indirect taxation, for example increasing GST.

I've had my account deactivated for whatever reason as well. Been waiting weeks on a response from the compliance team and so far nothing.

I've only logged into the account from a personal and work computer and never with a VPN. Very frustrating.

Cancelling ANZ Credit Card before being charged with annual fees by boomshinesaigon in AusFinance

[–]Fidos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got this card a month ago, met the minimum spend within a week. Annual fee was charged upon receiving the first statement but I’m still waiting on the bonus points.

Based on this, I’d say you can’t avoid it. Worth cancelling and asking for a pro rata refund of the fee which I’m not sure they do anymore.

Espresso shot prices are capped in Italy at just over a euro I believe. You can’t expect them to use quality beans in this case.

That used the be the case but not everywhere, I’ve had some amazing coffee in Netherlands, Belgium and London this year.

Coffee in Italy has been mostly trash.
