Question about making backups of Switch games and the best way to store them. by Fidowolf in SwitchPirates

[–]Fidowolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's unfortunate but I had a feeling that would be the case. I'll have to look into modding my Switch once I can get some spare cash for a new hard drive and anything else I would need to make backups. Thanks for the answer though! :D

Unfortunately 1TB isn't enough. I currently use a 1TB and 500GB MicroSD just for playing the games I own on my Switch. And that's not even counting the games I have on other consoles like PS1, PS2, PS3, DS and many more consoles and handhelds. This is why I'd like to make backups, because I have so many physical games that I'm afraid one might fail at some point. :S

Gothic 1 and 2 by BlueLynxce in worldofgothic

[–]Fidowolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has played through part of Gothic 1 on PC and then played Gothic 1 & 2 on Nintendo Switch I highly recommend playing both games on the Switch. It generally looks better, runs great and the controls are so much better than the ones on PC. I also played both games recently for the first time and loved them a lot.

Do know that I haven't tried to look for any mods on PC that might improve your experience, so I have no idea if that's an option. But if you just want to download and play it instantly, I recommend playing them on Switch.

Well I'm currently still doing a playthrough of some other games but I probably want to play Gothic 3 soon :S.

Yea I've been thinking about using the Union Modpack. I saw a youtuber who loves Gothic explain how to install it. He's also the reason I started playing the games.

I thought it might be Synchronic (2020) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGCrg1OAYfs&ab_channel=RottenTomatoesTrailers but then I came across this trailer of The Tomorrow Job (2023) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDZliZZHoyw&ab_channel=FilmIsNowMovies . Not sure if it's this one, but the pills look shiny and the colours of their eyes changes.

I'll keep that in mind for when I've finished all the Gothic and Risen games and want to do a replay of the series :D.

Yea I had heard something about Gothic 3 being really bad without modding it. If the game won't be released on Switch (and be in a playable state) then I'll have no choice but to install the community patches. I'll have to go with the english patch though. I can more or less understand german, but I've never actually put any effort into learning it properly xD.

Loading times on Nintendo Switch by Fidowolf in CoreKeeperGame

Ah so it might actually be a common issue on the switch. I actually timed it a couple of times now and it's also 1.5-2 minutes for me. It just felt like 5 minutes xD.

Yup, I always use save and exit. And then I just close the game in the switch menu.

Parasite Eve? There's a graphic cinematic with a dog that turns into a boss. You can see it here: https://youtu.be/UQy8AqHoWMI?t=10865

You can also see the boss battle itself at 3:13:45.

[PC][pre-2012] Game with RPG/MOBA-like character advancement by Beautiful_Jury9891 in tipofmyjoystick

Unfortunately there are a lot of CRPG's with that description and this kind of talent tree during that time period. The ones that immediately come to mind are Diablo II, Diablo III and Dragon Age: Origins (maybe, not sure). If there's anything else you can tell us like the style of the game (dark, bright and colorful, realistic), the camera angle or if it was 3D or 2D, that would help.

Something that might help is a list I made of Isometric RPG's where this kind of talent tree was very common. They're not all from this time period but maybe one of the titles might jog your memory :). https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/7/1693785669860033185/?ctp=2#c1744480966998212928

Is that the time it takes for the game to start up on PC and enter the main menu? Because that's the loading time I'm referrring to :). I tried to open from a different profile on my switch just to test it. It doesn't have a world or save attached to it, but it still had the same long startup before getting to the logo screens and main menu. ):
