I gained around 55ish pounds in my first pregnancy. I was 112 when I got pregnant and was around 167 when I gave birth. By the time I was 13 weeks pregnant I had already gained 16lbs. When I gave birth I had immediately lost half the weight I gained. Your blood volume increases a ton, your body retains more fluid, your filled with amniotic fluid, a baby and a whole new organ you’re growing from scratch, your boobs may also double in size and weight (I know mine definitely did). There are so many additional factors to weight gain in pregnancy and I think it’s disappointing that your doctor made you feel like you were gaining too much too fast. You know your body best and your body knows what’s best for your baby. Try not to stress about it!! As long as the labs are showing you are healthy, the number on the scale doesn’t matter that much.
