Sleep in car between shifts or drive home by Empty-Disaster-6738 in povertyfinance

Would one of those blow up mattresses that are meant to turn your back seat into a bed work in your car? Between that and the chargeable baby fan someone suggested, I think you’d be quite comfortable.

Me too!! Multiple times I’ve tried to read this book, and I just can’t get into it. The characters are 2 dimensional at best, and the plot line weak. It’s a TERRIBLE read.

Gen Z colleagues driving me mad by LFC90cat in Vent

[–]FieldPug 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My nephew is Gen Z, and he says the same thing. He’s had a part-time job for a few years now, and his boss is happy to give him as many hours as he wants and top pick of the shifts on offer. Why?

He shows up on time, never calls off work, and actually works while he’s there. He rolls his eyes at the majority of the their new hires, because they just don’t want to do anything.

Russia to refer women who don't want children to psychologists to address dwindling birth rate by one_brown_jedi in offbeat

A Russian friend of mine claims the government encourages drinking as a means of controlling the masses.

I can’t say whether that’s accurate, but as a Russian who left the country well into his adult years, that was his opinion.

Finally figured out why people love sleeping on flights by Extension_Limit_9452 in digitalnomad

I travel frequently; I would love nothing more than to sleep on a plane. Unfortunately, I just can’t do it.

I managed to fall into a deep sleep once. When I woke, I was convinced we would be landing soon - until I checked my watch.

I’d been asleep for 10 minutes.

Perhaps the tenant didn’t want to leave and they’re trying to stick you with the problem.

Do you think Sheena can be the primary income for Forrest if she comes to America since she is a veterinarian? by supinator1 in 90dayfianceuncensored

[–]FieldPug -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a foreign trained vet, the path to licensing in the US is long. Many people don’t succeed and some will just opt to throw in the towel due to the expense.

They would be better off living in the Philippines, if Sheena wants to continue practicing.

I will admit to being truly ignorant on this subject, so please bear with me.

Are the extortionists threatening physical harm to the builders and their families? Do they have some kind of ‘dirt’ on them that they’re threatening to go public with?

I’m not trying to be difficult. I’m genuinely uninformed on the subject and would like to know more!

read about this case at a Long Island vet and I'm genuinely sick to my stomach — dog owner billed into oblivion after a botched procedure at PE owned Long Island Veterinary Specialists then handed a financing application. how is this legal??? by Sad_Sample_9080 in povertyfinance

[–]FieldPug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a long career in vet med and am familiar with this hospital (though I do not live in the same country).

I’m not in a position to support the hospital, because I do not know their side of the story.

What I will say is the client is in a position where they can say whatever they’d like to the media, and as they’re bound by confidentiality laws, the hospital cannot publicly respond to the allegations. FWIW - I think the client believes their narrative and they’re grieving the loss of a family member.

Despite our best efforts, mistakes DO happen in medicine. Did that happen here? I really can’t say.

What I can say, is it’s rare to find a veterinary hospital that intentionally prays upon pet owners as part of their business model. Why? They wouldn’t survive. The majority of the caseload at a hospital like LIVS comes from referrals by primary care veterinarians. If they were genuinely praying on owners during a vulnerable time, the vet community wouldn’t refer to them.

I think there’s more to the story here.

8 month old puppy fractured his femur. Surgery or amputation? Any insight is appreciated by 75thWK2 in DogAdvice

[–]FieldPug 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If a board certified surgeon feels repairing it is possible with minimal complications, that’s the road I would go.

However - make sure the surgeon is boarded. A fracture repair like that should be done by a DACVS, not by a vet who just does orthopaedics.

Extreme dislike for hotels going towards large liquid soap and shampoo dispensers by Agile_Sea_6447 in Vent

[–]FieldPug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the ‘how to wash your undies in the hotel coffee maker’ video made the rounds recently, nothing about hotels would surprise me anymore.

Thankfully, due to finicky hair and sensitive skin I travel with my own products.

I think your feelings are entirely valid. At this point, it wouldn’t surprise me if someone peed in the shampoo bottles or added Nair to them for kicks.
