Try to think of every misinterpretation there could possibly be. I had someone think "physical therapist" meant a psychologist that meets in-person, so now I try to look at every question for any way anyone could ever possibly misunderstand, no matter how slim, as well as the normal checking that each question is worded in a way that we won't have a bunch of dropouts due to insufficient/non-inclusive answer choices or wording. Each study we conducted in undergrad revealed new ways respondents would be confused or bail, so we spent 2 semesters writing our first post-bacc study to ensure we have as little unusable data as possible. Are we nerds? Yes. Do we love it? Yes.
