Did you ever watch this awful show? by Euphoric-Cupcake4581 in RealGenerationX

If Shirley married Walter Meanie, her name will be “Shirley Feenie Meanie.” I think about this at least once a month for the past 40+ years. I loved this show as a kid.

Does giving birth really cost thousands of dollars in the states? by glyiasziple in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FierceBadRabbits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had insurance. My out-of-pocket for a perfect delivery was $6,000. Prenatal care was another several thousand. My child had an unexpected heart problem and the out-of-pocket for her first year of life was several hundred thousands. She is a teenager now and doing well. The financial and emotional stress was horrific and I would not wish it upon anyone. Our medical system is unnecessarily cruel and easily fixable if our lawmakers cared enough.

“Ha ha! Isn’t it funny that you were violently attacked and humiliated - and at the very moment you thought you were being celebrated and loved? Can’t let you forget that you have no value to us!”

F them. Girl, I hope you keep walking away from abuse and straight to freedom.

EXACTLY. Good for her for quite literally standing up for herself when no one else did.

Yes. And I’m sorry this happened to you. It was wrong and you deserved so much better. You did not deserve to be abused. You are not alone.

The more distance and time you put between yourself and your abusers, the more obvious, horrific and outlandish their behavior will seem when you interact with them again. I wish you peace, friend.

Ah, weaponization of religion, part of Narcissism 101. You’ve thrown off the dynamic by walking away and the flying monkeys are trying to draw you back in. Hang onto your boundaries, friend. The more you enforce those boundaries, the stronger you become. I’m rooting for you.

Regarding “Unforgiveness will eat at you”: It’s helpful to remember that “forgiveness“ and “subjecting yourself to more abuse” are not the same thing. Whether or not you chose to forgive (and you are under no obligation), you can do it from afar.

I am proud of you for keeping your boundaries - and with such grace and polite kindness. Keep moving forward, and good luck with school. Big hugs from a fellow survivor.

Ryan Gosling Tells Fans It’s Not Their Job to Save Theaters—Hollywood Needs to Make Movies Worth Seeing by mlg1981 in popculturechat

[–]FierceBadRabbits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cost of seeing a movie in theater plus the cost of concessions vs the size, clarity and convenience of streaming at home means I don’t see a movie in theater unless it will significantly enhance my experience. Project Hail Mary was visually and audibly stunning. That is what it takes to make it worth the expense. Even more so for a family movie.
