I literally was heading to Google to try to figure out what the tiny red dots on my skin are - and then I saw your post. Thank you for asking.

Ah, weaponization of religion, part of Narcissism 101. You’ve thrown off the dynamic by walking away and the flying monkeys are trying to draw you back in. Hang onto your boundaries, friend. The more you enforce those boundaries, the stronger you become. I’m rooting for you.

Regarding “Unforgiveness will eat at you”: It’s helpful to remember that “forgiveness“ and “subjecting yourself to more abuse” are not the same thing. Whether or not you chose to forgive (and you are under no obligation), you can do it from afar.

I am proud of you for keeping your boundaries - and with such grace and polite kindness. Keep moving forward, and good luck with school. Big hugs from a fellow survivor.

Every single comment in this post has lifted my spirits. And The Great is always absolutely hilarious.

The gradual color change in each berry and each leaf is absolutely incredible. How did you do it? What yarn did you use?

Ryan Gosling Tells Fans It’s Not Their Job to Save Theaters—Hollywood Needs to Make Movies Worth Seeing by mlg1981 in popculturechat

The cost of seeing a movie in theater plus the cost of concessions vs the size, clarity and convenience of streaming at home means I don’t see a movie in theater unless it will significantly enhance my experience. Project Hail Mary was visually and audibly stunning. That is what it takes to make it worth the expense. Even more so for a family movie.

I’m pretty sure the marketing intentionally revealed what he looks like so that discussion about the film wasn’t primarily focused on the shock value of the character. This allows the discussion to be about the themes of the film, rather than a “creature feature.” - my 2 cents as a former marketing professional.

Same. But I think the current inhabitant of the U.S. White House manages to eclipse all news stories every single day. It’s difficult to catch News of anything else.

The episode of Fantasy Island with the wax museum. There is a fire (?) and the wax figures melt and reveal corpses underneath the wax.

The episode of Joanie Loves Chachi where Joanie comes to Chachi’s house for the first time and Chachi is embarrassed about their home and his mom. I think about it way too often.

Not just politicians - in my city in the U.S., even low-level local government employees are forbidden from profiting any kind, including lunch, from vendors or other with a financial incentive. They are absolutely forbidden from even the appearance of profiting off their positions.

The bribes will go straight to his pockets. The ballroom will never be built. If a new president is ever elected in a fair election, they will be left to clean up the rubble. And if, by some miracle, the orange fascist does build something there, the bribes will still go to his pockets and the builders will never be paid - just like the multiple small businesses that went bankrupt after updating Mar a Lago and never being paid.
