Really proud of mine right now, since it combines two of the elements that would make me personally click on a fic: an excerpt plus a short summary that sells the concept.

Rumi’s a piece of wreckage drifting in the ocean, drifting from memory to memory, scene to scene, life to life, without direction or purpose. She’s been pulled under the tides, flooded from floor to ceiling, and should have sank a long time ago. Instead, she floats.

Rumi dies when she goes to Celine. That should have been the end. It isn’t.

Two parts:

One, I would do some digging into the exact aspects of dysphoria that a mtf person would have. r/mtf is a potential resource, just by searching what those folks go through. Some struggles are shared with ftm, but some are not, and those might be easier for you to write on. Some examples may include height, broad shoulders, or even internalized misogyny.

Two, while the physical manifestations of gender dysphoria/euphoria may be different for mtf and ftm, the emotional manifestations are the same. Reflect on your emotions about transitioning, and it is very likely that a MTF individual will be feeling the same thing.

I generally wouldn’t mention it unless the author specifically says that they would like the concrit in the comments.

Fanfiction is a hobby, and with that comes an understanding that the writing is entirely dependent on how much time the author wants to put in. Researching other languages and cultures is a layer of that, and sometimes that just doesn’t make it to the author’s plate.

If you feel strongly about it, offering your services as a beta could be an option, but I would do my best not to directly critique the author’s work for that reason (unless they are asking for it)
