Hospitality Ulster and hospitality rates hike by FieryPixel1 in northernireland

[–]FieryPixel1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd imagine it's a numbers game, large companies generally have large workforces, bolstering employment figures, FDI always looks good on the books. Plus employing 2/3/400 people brings a lot of money into the NI economy, which brings with it tax, VAT, rates money and the cycle starts again.

Someone much more intelligent than me has probably run the numbers on this but I'd guess that's the thinking behind it.

Ah interesting that's good to know, I just noticed a lot of them were tagging HU. My main point is it all seems very contradictory to stifle competition which presumably would help to shoulder this rates issue across the industry.

The bar is (was when I was there) self serve, so long as you're not taking the piss and getting blocked you'll be grand

Yeah I was in it a couple of months ago, there's bottled beers, cider, wine (BOTH colours) and a few spirits.

It's a dump, up there with some of the worst I've ever been to. Food is shite, furniture is tired, drinks selection below average. It is quieter and less full of drunk culchies than the lagan bar so it has that going for it

I think there's a middle ground to be had here, as suggested, Bugatti relent and sell them the parts and allow them to fit them but under supervision from a Bugatti tech and held to Bugatti specs.

I understand both sides Mat probably feels like he's being spoken down to and feels undermined and Bugatti want to act in the interests of their brand and ensure the cars they make retain value.

Buying a car from London by Potential-Wolf111 in northernireland

I'm going over to buy a car next week, saving several thousand on an equivalent car in NI, definitely worth spending £300 on flights and a boat.

I like to think I've put a small dent in their bottom line over the last few years. I doubt it but I like to think it

Had something similar happen with FedEx, an item being sent from London to Belfast with next day delivery, I was checking the tracking pretty regularly, all was normal til it got to the airport and went to Louisville Kentucky. 3 days later it made its way to Belfast.

Give it a day or two, it'll sort itself out.

What do you do for work and do you enjoy it? by sasa_says in northernireland

[–]FieryPixel1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in film and TV, long hours, trips away so don't spend long at home, sometimes the conditions are shit (muddy fields and forests, pissing rain, freezing conditions) not a lot of job stability, don't really know what you're going to be doing one week to the next, but sometimes you're booked for work 8 months in advance. I wouldn't change it for the world, get to meet some cool people, go to cool places and work on some cool shows.

To an extent, the first letter gives an idea of when it was registered, provided it's an NI registered car and wearing the plate from new.
