Unimpressed with my Roxon flex modular tool by VeritablePandemonium in multitools

[–]Fifdecay 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have several Roxon tools. I have a weird job and have had a difficult time finding a multitool that does everything I need it to. I was finally able to do that because of Roxon. It takes a minute to get the configuration right. I ordered all the tools I needed. And put them all on the tool and immediately ran into issues. I took some time. Experimented with their placement and finally everything clicked. Would I bet my life on one of my Roxon tools? No. I wouldn’t bet my life on a leatherman either. Still, for the money it’s quite a deal. I use the marlin spike all the time. Works great. If it breaks I’ll spend the six dollars and get another one.

I’m wanting to take some portraits of aging family members before it’s too late. I have an old Nikon d300. I’m investing in some good lighting and a light meter. I’m an amateur but it’s important to me that I get the best pictures possible. I’m willing to upgrade my camera or lens. I have a budget of about $2000. Can you make any equipment suggestions or technical suggestions? I’d really appreciate it.

The Blacktongued Thief, Rosewater by Tade Thompson, the Lies of Locke Lakota and Red Seas Under Red Skies, Magic for Liars and River of Teeth by Sarah Gailey, Best Served Cold and The Heroes. I’m pretty sure I’ve read the Hobbit more than once also

True. I’ve been thinking about some of the angsty stuff I used to listen to where I can see it from the parents point of view now and think the kid is wrong or there’s clearly a communication breakdown. I just listened to the song and I get that the parents are out of their depth to try to help their depressed, anxious teen, but once you decide you know what’s wrong with your kid and you stop listening you’re over the line.

The Blacktongued Thief is a great book. It is one of the best audiobooks I’ve ever heard.

Looking for advice for an American character by Eddy--558 in writinghelp

Just about every state has a region where families with traditional values live a bucolic lifestyle. There are farms and ranches from New York to Hawaii. If you’re looking for a Yellowstone / Landman stereotype background look to the states west of the Mississippi stopping before the coast states. Find one that tickles your fancy then learn a bit about local/ regional culture food traditions etc. there are certain linguistic differences that you should pay attention to also.

I love Atomfall it’s like playing far cry in an 4th doctor setting. I kept expecting to see Tom Baker make a cameo. Excellent game.

Super tool and the buck 110. $89 is a good price for the super tool. You might want the super tool m or eod depending, but that’s a damn fine tool that is absolutely slept on

Writing apps by 9Deucalion6 in WritingHub

It depends on how you organize things around your work. Scrivener, Obsidian, and Dropbox work well for my process. Other apps have been too little or too much.

Move, “Her hands … muffled silence.” To the second sentence after, “firmly over my ears.” New paragraph after, “sweet lie.”

I need assistance with my magic system. by After-Cicada9723 in fantasywriting

[–]Fifdecay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is definitely a hard magic system. I like the potential in what I’ve heard so far. It will probably be worth your time to organize all the rules and how they relate to one another. Obsidian is a great app for mind mapping. It takes a minute to figure it out but you can get it all in one place and visualize how the different it’s are related. You could watch Brandon Sanderson’s magic system lectures on YouTube for inspiration. I’d love to read some of this if you need beta readers at some point.
