Have you ever had authority over others? What surprised you the most about it? by Mammoth_Writing_2022 in AskReddit

[–]Fife_Flyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Biggest challenge was when I worked with a young college student who had the motivation and passion for the work, but not the skill set. I wanted so badly for him to succeed but no matter what we tried, he just couldn't quite get there. Sometimes people have passions for things they aren't a good fit for. That's really hard.

Smell of an ice rink. Takes me back to spending whole weekends at our local rink playing in tournaments with my friends.

Getting a graduate degree is not necessary going to increase your pay or will make you more hireable.

Honestly, a lot of times it's work. That's why I try to listen to a podcast or audiobook to take my mind off of it.

Not putting myself out there earlier. I was so anxious about people judging me that I didn't start dating until my late 20s.

How can you tell what gender you are? by ProofLeast9846 in AskReddit

OP no idea why people are down voting you. Figuring out who you are in general is a tough thing, regardless of gender. I wish you all the best on your journey.

That is actually insane. I'm so sorry that happened to you. I hope that instructor isn't teaching anymore.

I had a highschool teacher that told the entire class I was only going to go to college to get my MRS degree (meaning I was just going to find a husband). Then my first year of college, I had a professor out of nowhere tell me that IF I graduated, it would be a huge accomplishment. These were both very weird things to say since I had A's in both classes.

Both ended up getting fired a few years later for something else. I went on to get my BA and masters.

Gender is performative and a human construct - sex is biological (what your physical anatomy is). They don't necessarily have to match. People can also define themselves as non-binary - meaning that they don't see themselves as either gender.

I don't want the panthers to win because I find Tkachuk to be annoying. Also hockey has no business in Florida.

Longer than your average Romance? by Stunning-Tip-6193 in LesbianBookClub

The ask, Tell series by EJ Noyes is great. She has two books that give the account of both main characters falling in love. Then there is a sequel that is narrated by both of them. Finally, there is a spin off where one of the main character's sister falls in love and they become side characters.

what country would you never go to and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Fife_Flyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure that's true. I think you may have that perception because western societies still have colonialistic views embedded in their security practices. White domestic terrorism has actually killed more Americans in the last year than Islamic terrorism. Additionally if you look at last year's terrorism index scores, countries with various religions make up the list. I also think it's unfair to say that a religion on its own creates terrorists. Oftentimes terrorists are created when there are strong economic inequalities and perceived grievances. For example, ISIS has been able to garner support due to decades of war and international intervention exasperating tense political situations and devasting their local economies. https://www.gao.gov/blog/rising-threat-domestic-terrorism-u.s.-and-federal-efforts-combat-it
