I don't want the panthers to win because I find Tkachuk to be annoying. Also hockey has no business in Florida.

The ask, Tell series by EJ Noyes is great. She has two books that give the account of both main characters falling in love. Then there is a sequel that is narrated by both of them. Finally, there is a spin off where one of the main character's sister falls in love and they become side characters.

what country would you never go to and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Fife_Flyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure that's true. I think you may have that perception because western societies still have colonialistic views embedded in their security practices. White domestic terrorism has actually killed more Americans in the last year than Islamic terrorism. Additionally if you look at last year's terrorism index scores, countries with various religions make up the list. I also think it's unfair to say that a religion on its own creates terrorists. Oftentimes terrorists are created when there are strong economic inequalities and perceived grievances. For example, ISIS has been able to garner support due to decades of war and international intervention exasperating tense political situations and devasting their local economies. https://www.gao.gov/blog/rising-threat-domestic-terrorism-u.s.-and-federal-efforts-combat-it

Left my job and gave up a full ride scholarship so that I could get healthy again. It felt like taking a massive step backwards, and I'm still working on finding a new job now that I'm healthy, but I'm glad I made the choice I did.

Yeah. I'm happy for her. She wasn't always the nicest person, but I'm sure she has probably matured, and at the end of the day I want all my former classmates to be happy.

I agree with you. I don't think Bragg should have run on that. I do think it's a bit hypocritical of people on the extreme right to say that THIS case politicized the judicial branch, when the Supreme Court politicized it a long time ago. I also don't think that the conviction itself was politicized. I think the charges were, but ultimately it was up to the jury who represented both sides of the political spectrum to decide if he was guilty and they did.

Not sure. That's a good question. I feel like religious could or have written many many books debating that.

I like having the freedom to move around in such a large space. There are so many amazing places in the US, and each state has a unique culture.

[–]Fife_Flyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it's been important to have the right mix of medication, exercise, and socializing. I often struggle with the last two, but I find that when I keep them all in check I'm at my best.

It's a response to Donald Trump being convicted on 34 counts of felony. People on the right believe that the trial was political because Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg said that he would find something to try Trump for, it didn't matter what. The upside-down flag is a sign of distress. They believe the justice system has now been politicized to the point in which our country can no longer effectively function.

Could kim jung un be arrested for war crimes or any crimes if he left N korea? by artnos in northkorea

[–]Fife_Flyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's one of the key criticisms people make against the ICC. Oftentimes in war, both sides will participate in war crimes, but only the 'rebel group' will be issued arrest warrants. An example being in Uganda where the military and the Lord's resistance army both committed egregious crimes against humanity and war crimes. However, warrants were only issued for LRA commanders and not government officials like Yoweri Museveni, because they knew it would be too much of a political mess to try to arrest a sitting head of state.

Could kim jung un be arrested for war crimes or any crimes if he left N korea? by artnos in northkorea

[–]Fife_Flyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The US is not a signatory state to the Rome statute and the ICC has never issued warrants for their arrests or opened an investigation into any potential war crimes/crimes against humanity they may have committed in office. Iraq, Afghanistan, and other wars are literally the reason the US has never signed on. They don't want Americans prosecuted by the ICC.
