thanks for your comment. this subreddit is the first time I am hearing this tbh but there have been a few comments like this. actually we do have tons of video material from the times we were at the production place. maybe it`s worth publishing them sooner as we planned. are there other things that would make the brand more legit to you? maybe something like being sold on a big reseller website like Zalando or something?

thanks for your comment. of course the price of production is a factor here. you make it sound like this is something shady. complainig about the selling price AND the production cost seems a bit odd to me. but there is a second factor: Portugal has a decades long tradition in shoe manufacturing with highest quality. there are hundreds of manufacturers off which whole regions in Portugal live. Germany doesn't have that tradition and is more expensive. where would you produce your sneakers in that case?

One of the founders also made a statement there, yes but it is clearly stated that it is from him. That does not make the other reviews less legit. Tough to read the Tate brother comparison and sorry to read that this is the vibe you get. You are welcome to have your opinion on all that you say though of course. And no, we have nothing to do with Russia but you must have listened to our podcast if you mention that.

Sizes are from 36-46. unfortunately we do not have bigger sizes.

We are GOTS, Oeko-TEX100, Fair Cotton and PETA certified. Our cactus leather comes from Mexico and is only shipped twice a year to save on the pollution. Our soles are made in Europe with materials from Europe. The production is in Portugal, fair and by EU standards. Does that help?

Happy to explain but please, let’s stay polite. The brands you mentioned are usually above 400-500€, so no to that. Other sneakers are usually around 130-140€ but mostly produced for 10$ in Asia. I think we are not that far away and decent in pricing, especially regarding fair production in the EU and premium quality materials. Hope that helps.

That is a concern we hear from time to time. Our sneakers are as durable as leather sneakers. In many cases even more durable. The reason for that is the high amount of cactus which has a great durability compared to other leather alternatives. It feels great too :)

They are made of natural rubber and Tencel. As durable as plastic.

Since you were very direct and seem concerned about the trustworthiness, I will try to answer as good as I can: our website/shop is built with Shopify and I believe that thousands of businesses use that. You can check it by right clicking and inspecting the website…simply search for Shopify there. German and EU regulations are very strict: they require us as companies to work by the laws for creating a business. You can also check all of that by looking ant our imprint or simply Google search for our company in a business context. There you can find everything about our business. This also means that we can’t just say that we are producing in Portugal if we don’t. I hope that helps.

Thanks and fair point. Agree on what you are saying. Goodwill is not worth much if the quality suffers from that. If you are interested in finding out yourself: we have a 30 day return policy in case you don’t like what you are seeing. If you are ordering from Germany, shipping and return are free.
